A warning for people who use web cameras, home security systems and even video baby monitors: A recent security breach means all your video could be out there for the world to see. But there's a simple solution.

VIDEO:Security breach affects web cams, home security systems, baby monitors

The lights are off and the computers are on but technically you can probably observe the people that are working, said Alex Holden of Hold Security.

Holden said hackers are accessing your personal security systems online and posting them on websites like insecam for the world to see.

Surprisingly, this is very low-tech, meaning this does not require hackers actually using their hacking skills, Holden said.

Instead of digging to gain access to your video, the generic default passwords that every web cam comes with can all be found through a simple search online.

Holden said when you install a web or security camera in your home, it can become a virtual window for strangers, unless you change the default password.

"For us security professionals, we feel helpless because we can't do much. We can't scream into the monitor please assign the password or shut your camera off, Holden said.

But even when it's off, he said, they can still get inside.

Holden recommends choosing a strong password and changing it often.
