CELEBRITY HOME REMODELS HEADLINE NEW SERIES ON HGTV AND DIY NETWORK

NEW YORK [For Immediate Release - April 1, 2014] HGTV and DIY Network will premiere 31 new series, including three that star Jennie Garth, Daryl Hall and William Shatner. The two networks will bring back more than 54 favorite series and debut 24 specials in 2014. With 1,200-plus hours of new programming planned, the networks also have more than 22 pilots in active production. After a record-breaking 2013 that attracted an average of 72 million viewers per month, the networks continue to perform strongly among upscale viewers - HGTV ranked #1 among upscale W25-54 for the seventh consecutive year and #2 among upscale P25-54.

"Celebrities like Jennie Garth, Daryl Hall and William Shatner will deal with the highs and lows of actual remodels in many of our new series," said Kathleen Finch, president, HGTV and DIY Network. "Their stories are universally compelling to anyone who has been through the renovation process or is even considering it. Our ability to attract great personalities and tell relatable stories is the reason that HGTV and DIY Network dominate the lifestyle television landscape in the home category."

HGTV's new lineup will showcase eight new series, including celebrity home remodels, house-flipping adventures or winner-takes-all home renovation competitions. The Jennie Garth Project, premiering in June, will follow single mom and actress Jennie Garth, star of Beverly Hills, 90210, as she renovates a dated Hollywood Hills, Calif. house for herself and her three daughters. Flipping the Block, HGTV's next high-stakes renovation rivalry, will feature four couples who compete to win big money at auction in the ultimate home-flipping competition. And Flip It Forward will star real estate entrepreneurs and brothers David and Jason Benham as they leverage their good-natured sibling rivalry to help families find a fixer-upper and transform it into the dream home they never thought they could afford.

HGTV also will offer a closer look at the realities of handling home renovations with a family in tow. The new series Fixer Upper will feature husband and wife home-remodeling team Chip and Joanna Gaines as they balance their successful home-flipping business with parenting four young children. My Big Family Renovation will follow Austin, Texas-based author and popular mommy blogger Jen Hatmaker as she and husband Brandon sell their home and move with their five kids into a place that needs a major remodel.

At DIY Network, the brand is expanding its "celebrity home rehab" collection with the production of The Shatner Project, a series that follows the home renovation of actor William Shatner, recognizable to television fans as Star Trek's original Captain James T. Kirk, commander of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise. Daryl's Restoration Over-Hall, premiering in May, stars singer/songwriter Daryl Hall from musical duo Hall & Oates as he fuels his second passion for historic home restoration with his latest project, a quaint 18th century Connecticut home.

Additional new DIY Network series include Sledgehammer, starring popular licensed contractor Jason Cameron who will help homeowners smash their way to gorgeous new spaces by wrecking and remodeling their worst rooms. First Time Flippers featuring overzealous property virgins who put their do-it-yourself real estate skills to the ultimate test; Family Under Construction: Hawaii, which will follow along as a family of five lives through a whole home renovation in Hawaii and Disaster Decks, which will feature designer/carpenter Paul LaFrance as he rescues homeowners from their outdoor renovation woes.

The networks' popular home giveaway franchise continues to generate millions of entries each year. This year, HGTV will showcase the HGTV Dream Home in Lake Tahoe; HGTV Smart Home in Nashville; and a new HGTV Urban Oasis. On DIY Network, Blog Cabin, the interactive home building series, will invite fans to design the 2014 vacation home, a 1920s lakeside getaway located in Winter Haven, Fla.
