This years Fix a Leak Week runs from March 17-23 and the theme is Chasing Leaks. WaterSense and the EPA encourage people nationwide to participate in community runs and other activities to educate themselves about chasing down leaks and how to stop wasting water.

People can save tens of thousands of gallons of water a year by taking care of leaks they may not even know they have in their home, said Mike Agugliaro, Gold Medal Service co-founder. Its good for the environment to save water, and its also good for the local economy and your own pocketbook.

Checking plumbing and irrigation systems and correcting any leaks can save homeowners as much as 10,000 gallons of water per year, roughly the capacity of a backyard swimming pool, or the amount needed to wash 270 loads of laundry.
