Normally, most sane Londoners recognise snow for what it is - a cold, slippery pest that ruins train travel, turns pavements into death traps and eventually lurks in the gutter, grey and melting.

However, a select group of kids and adults in London were today offered a solution to the capital's first snowless winter for 12 years with the launch of a unique 'Adopt a Snowman' pop-up stand that allowed them to walk away with their very own frozen friend.

With temperatures already soaring following the wettest winter on record, the first-of-its-kind installation - located near Covent Garden - ensured snow-lovers didn't miss out on what many consider an important and traditional winter pastime, playing with a snowman.

Visitors to the pop-up left with their own snowman inspired by characters in the Disney movie Frozen, complete with their very own adoption papers and traditional attire. And with the thermometer tipping nearly 20 degrees, each snowman came with an insulated carry case to avoid puddles on the bus.

We're betting that the snowmen didn't last beyond lunchtime. But we hope their owners had a good time with them until they succumbed.

The initiative, which took place on the last day of winter, was created by Walt Disney Home Entertainment to celebrate the upcoming release of the double Academy Award winning filmFrozen.
