A man in his 60s was struck by gang crossfire while cleaning a neighbors gutter Thursday afternoon in the Chicago Lawn community, area residents said.

The man was shot in the back in the 2300 block of West 72nd Street about 1:45 p.m., Chicago Police said.

He was cleaning his neighbors gutters, said neighbor Robert Robinson. He just was standing out there, and the car rolled by and they got to shooting ... he wound up being the only one getting shot. He had nothing to do with it.

When I found out he got shot, it hurt me. I wanted to slam my phone on the ground thats how mad I was. This has got to stop. All this shooting, its practically every day. Back and forth shooting.

Paramedics took the man in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

Neighbors said the man, who had six brothers and three sisters, regularly walked his sisters dog throughout the neighborhood.
