The Wood-Ridge Council introduced a bond ordinance for $800,000 for municipal buildings and ground improvements at a public meeting, Nov. 20.

The borough is anticipating several matching grants for several projects.

The town is expecting $20,000 from the County of Bergen Open Space Program to finance the construction of gazebos at Veterans Park on Valley Boulevard and $35,000 from the same department for playground equipment at Veterans Park.

The council also anticipates $22,500 from the County of Bergen Historic Preservation Program for the cost of a historical study in connection with future renovations of the Brinkerhoff House Library.

"That ordinance funds a number of projects. It completes the improvements to the civic and senior buildings," said Borough Administrator Chris Eilert.

Eilert said the funds would also go to replace two jungle gyms at Veterans Park and build two new gazebos.

The administrator explained that the study of the Brinkerhoff House Library was a prerequisite to any improvements because of its status as a historical building.

"That study will make us eligible for grant money for renovations," said Eilert.
