AT A GLANCE

Here is an overview of proposed improvements in conceptual design project for the South Glens Falls Central School District:

At Ballard Elementary School: work would involve constructing an addition of 9,500 and 11,000 square feet to create a fourth, properly sized kindergarten classroom and adding other classrooms to accommodate population growth, expanding the library media center, computer room and cafeteria, improving the public restrooms, relocating the arts and music classrooms, creating a section of the building for occupational and physical therapy and speech services and improving student access to the main office.

At Tanglewood Elementary: work would be similar to that at Ballard, except the cafeteria would not be expanded. Nearly 4,000 square feet would be added and 8,000 square feet renovated.

At Moreau Elementary: work would include improving student access to the main office, adding a multi-purpose room, partially replacing the ceiling and roof, partially enclosing the outside canopy to improve drainage and adding space for occupational, physical and speech therapy.

At Harrison Elementary School: work would include replacing part of the roof and ceiling, improving student access to the main office, expanding the gym by removing the dividing wall and partially enclosing the outside canopy.

At Oliver W. Winch Middle School, the work would include installing some new windows, replacing lockers and adding a handicapped accessible ramp to the gymnasium lobby. There would also be access to the parking lot from Harrison Avenue and additional parking at the current bus garage for field events.

At the high school, the district would construction an addition of anywhere between 6,000 and 12,500 square feet to create new science classrooms and small group meeting rooms. Other work includes adding a secure entry vestibule, replacing stage lighting and providing air conditioning in the auditorium, adding more playing fields and relocating the tennis courts, improving student bathrooms and exterior access to them, resurfacing the running track and replacing the carpet in the offices, library and Large Group Instruction room.
