After a $6.2 million infusion in September from a new apartment complex, the citys building permit report for October shows just $82,529 in construction activity. However, the year-to-date total is still running almost 60 percent ahead of the same time a year ago.

According to the building report, issued Monday, total permitted construction for 2014 stands at $8,388,905. That compares to $4,782,165 for the same period in 2013.

During October, the city building and zoning department issued 21 permits, including 14 for signs with a combined value of $60,479. Two residential remodeling projects received permits, for a total value of $6,300; three garage/carports; $10,300; one storage building, $1,750; and one commercial addition, $3,700.

For the entire year permits have been issued for five new residential projects, 21 residential additions, 23 residential remodels, one residential repair, four residential demolition, two residential assessor buildings, 26 garage/carport projects, five storage buildings, one new commercial, two commercial additions, 14 commercial remodels, three commercial demolition, two commercial accessory buildings, one masonry fences and 38 signs.

For the year, 148 permits for various types of construction activity have been issued by the city. Thats down 49 from the 197 issued during the same period in 2013.
