Liverpool marine flooring manufacturer Durastic has won a supply-and-installation deal on a new North Sea platform

Durastic, which has branches in Liverpool, Jarrow and Southampton, UK, will supply and lay its seamless, fire-retardant underlay and flooring products in the cellar deck of a new platform under construction for BPs 4.5bn Clair Ridge oilfield near the Shetland islands.

The platform is being built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea.

Installation staff from Durastic will travel from the UK to HHIs offshore yard near Ulsan on South Koreas south-east coast. The team will include a project manager, underlay and top-surfacing specialists.

Durastic manager David Sinclair, who has overseen the project, said: This latest work comes after a previous order with HHI to supply products for the Clair Ridge platforms main module.

This new deal will, again, showcase the quality and value-for-money of Durastic products, and the very best of our workmanship.

The benefits of Durastic underlays and coverings are that they are seamless, light weight, lay in one coating and clean.

Meticulously manufactured and tested, the durability of flooring ensures expensive, disruptive and time-consuming maintenance is kept to a minimum, providing terrific value for money.

Furthermore, the quality of Durastic products means they meet A60 fire-retardant safety and certification standards set by maritime organisations across the world including Lloyds of London, IMO and American Coastguard.

The North Sea platforms cellar deck will be laid with 528 sq metres of Durastic lightweight underlay. This light underlay is used as a screed to prepare steel decking surfaces for a final top flooring surface. (See Notes to Editors, 2)
