Wood, composite products and vinyl are familiar choices when it comes to decking materials.

At next week's annual Home Show in Rock Island, you'll beable to check out anew porcelaintilemanufactured in the Quad-Cities byMbrico Tile Decks.

The company was founded by McManus Development,a Quad-City homebuilder specializing in high-end construction, which wanteda superiordecking material thatcould withstand harsh winters, Deb McManus said.

Engineering and product-testing began about five years ago, with the first installation four years ago, she added.

Mbricois grout-free, resistant to frost, mold, rot, slipping and fading, and is available in various sizes, patterns and colors, she said.

The product requires professional installation to ensure proper framing. Buyershaveto find their own installer the product comes with specific instructions or Mbrico will provide recommendations upon request.

The tile is more expensive than other surfaces, but is longer-lasting, McManus said, adding, "Thisis a product that does not have to be refinished or replaced."

This is Mbrico's first year at the show. At present, its tile is available only through the company; it'snotsold in stores. A website with buying information is expected to be launched the week of the home show.

The word "Mbrico" means "Italian," McManus said. The name was picked to be unique and "stand out in the American market."

Mbrico will be one of140 vendors at the 37th annual Home Show, which is a"one-stop shopping" experience for people consideringany kind of home improvement project, including a new home.
