A FENG shui consultation has become as routine as a pest or building inspection on the Gold Coast with up to eight in 10 Asian investors rejecting properties which dont conform to the philosophys basic principles.

Feng shui master consultant Perrie Burton is training eight proteges after being inundated with requests from developers, businesses and aspiring homeowners who believe their health and wealth hinges on the mysterious energy flows.

Ray White Runaway Bays Steven Foo said Gold Coast developers and builders may think feng shui is a load of rubbish but they could be ignoring it at their peril.

Among my Asian clientele eight out of 10 would observe basic feng shui principles its just how they were brought up, he said.

Especially in a very confined space like apartment living, they (developers) should be observing this pre-emptively during the design to attract an Asian buyer.

If they dont design it in these ways and make these mistakes like the position of toilets, they find it hard to attract the Asian clients.

Ms Burton, who has been working on the Coast for 15 years, said shes noticed a dramatic upswing in demand.

Its almost become as important as building and pest inspections, in fact, I think its more important, she said.
