Celebrity Big Brother seems a basic premise in theory - find some stars, stick them in a house together and see what happens - but could there be even more to it than we realise?

Leading feng shui expert Jan Cisek has looked at the design of the digs and how they can effect the mood and balance of the contestants.

Speaking to Gumtree.com, he described the environment as "entirely unique".

He said: "With its Twisted Fairytales theme and combination of statement, luxury items, this years house is very distinctive. By including a number of different elements in the single space, the environment is entirely unique.

"The celebrity housemates have entered this surreal environment where anything goes.

So how does it actually work? Let's take a look:

This year sees the house adopt a dark and twisted tone as part of the fairytale theme, with Gothic colour schemes and forest effects clashing with the bright lights of the setting itself.

Jan suggested this contrast could be the source of the conflict in the house, while the dark woods imagery gives the impression of truly being in the wilderness.

Meanwhile, the colour red is always seen as one of the most powerful colours, with the splashes of red in the living room and dining area possibly making the likes of Katie Hopkins and Perez Hilton even more feisty.

It is said in feng shui, mirrors are used to expand space, increase the feeling of light and improve an area's energy - and they are certainly key to the Big Brother house.
