WACO (SMU/NCEA) -- Two SMU Mustangs were named to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association All-American Teams, the organization announced on Wednesday. Both honors came in equitation over fences as Sylvia de Toledo garnered second team recognition and Schaefer Raposa earned honorable mention accolades.

"I am really proud of Sylvia and Schaefer," head coach Carol Gwin said. "They are both very deserving of the honor. They both competed at a high level and it shows in the results. They are very team oriented and it was a pleasure coaching them this season."

de Toledo, a second team honoree last season, went 10-3-1 in equitation over fences this season. The sophomore earned Most Outstanding Performer in the New Mexico State and TCU meets. A New York City native has won five straight head-to-head matchups. She is the first Mustang with back-to-back second-team accolades.

Raposa was an honorable mention recipient last year. This season the junior carried a 10-4-0 record with three MOP's. Her score average is 81, which is a team best. The Clinton, N.Y., native has won six of her last seven head-to-head matchups.

The NCEA determined the 2015 All-America selections. The top four-riders per discipline were selected as first team while the next four were put as second team. There is no limit on the number of riders receiving honorable mention, as long as they met an established criteria.

The Mustangs face Kansas State in the opening round of the NCEA Championship on April 16. The three-day event is held at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. It is the ninth consecutive year that the City of Waco and McLennan County have hosted the championship.
