A man has been charged with multiple driving and assault offences after allegedly taking police on a chase through the northern suburbs on Tuesday night.

Police attempted to stop a Nissan Patrol travelling west along Beach Road in Mirrabooka about 11.20pm but the driver allegedly refused to stop, police spokeswomans Susan Usher said.

The driver allegedly evaded police through several suburbs before smashing through a gate to a property on Joyce Road, Gnangara.

The Patrol was driven around the home and through paddocks, before returning to the carriageway on Facey Road - allegedly by smashing through an electronic gate. The vehicle then became stuck when the driver allegedly attempted to enter bushland at the end of Facey Road by going through metal gates and rocks.

A 24-year-old Midland man has been charged with multiple driving offences, as well as two counts of assault to prevent arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Police confirmed inquiries into the incident were continuing.
