Esau Pritchett (Broadways A Free Man of Color) plays Troy Maxson, the commanding father in August Wilsons Fences at New Havens Long Wharf Theatre, directed by Phylicia Rashad.

Also featured in the show, which is a co-production with the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, N.J., is Portia as Rose. Portia was in Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune at Hartford Stage.

Also cast are Chris Myers as Troy and Rsoes son Corey. Also featured are G. Alvarez Reid, Taylor Dior, Phil McGlaston and Jared McNeil.

Rashad (Claire in The Cosby Show; Tony Award for the revival of A Raisin in the Sun) directed A Raisin in the Sun last year at the Westport Country Playhouse, which honored the actress-director last month at its annual fundraising gala.

The show runs Nov. 27 to Dec. 22, on the theaters main stage, with the opening set for Dec. 4. Tickets are $40 to $75.

The play was originally developed at the Eugene ONeill Theater Centers National Playwrights Conference in the mid -80s, It later made its world premiere at the Yale Repertory Theatre. and opened on Broadway starring James Earl Jones and Mary Alice in 1987 . The play won top awards including the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award.
