BOONTON -Boonton Avenue will be closed in both directions from Main Street to at least Wootton Street from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday, Oct. 21 to about Friday, Oct. 24, as the road is being milled and paved.

At times, the entire length of Boonton Avenue to Sheep Hill Road will be closed.

The Town of Boonton Police recommend that motoristsplan on using an alternate route if possible, such as Route 287.

When Boonton Avenue is completely closed at Sheep Hill Road, southbound through traffic will be detoured from Boonton Avenue in Montville, making a left onto Taylortown Road, and then a right onto Route 202 to continue straight until Main Street in Boonton. Northbound traffic from Main Street will be detoured to Route 202 (Myrtle Ave), making a left on Taylortown and a right onto Boonton Avenue.

To accommodate this construction, emergency parking regulations will also be in effect.

Parking will be prohibited on Boonton Avenue from Main Street to Sheep Hill Road from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day of the construction. Additionally, the Boonton Avenue parking lot near the intersection of Main Street will be subject to closure from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 21 and Oct. 23.

Vehicles must be removed from the parking lot prior to 6 a.m., or they may have to remain parked until roadway construction has ceased in the area.

Residents who park in a private driveway and will need to get out during the days of construction should make alternate arrangements, such as parking on an adjoining or parallel street, as there may be delays in accessing driveways depending on the roadwork being performed at the time.

There will be police personnel on scene during the project, and if a motorist faces difficulty in accessing a particular residence or location, or has any questions about access, they should speak to a police officer first, especially before proceeding around any barricades or cones.
