QUEENSBURY -- A Fort Edward man who police said burglarized two homes last summer was sentenced to 6 months in Warren County Jail and 5 years on probation for his guilty plea in one of the cases.

Gary D. Wells Jr., 21, will also spend 5 years on probation as part of the sentence imposed by Warren County Judge John Hall.

Wells was arrested last July after police said he went into a Buckbee Road, Queensbury home and stole $350. That theft was captured by a surveillance camera in the home, which led to police identifying Wells as a suspect.

Days later, he was charged with a second burglary, after media coverage of the arrest led to a woman identifying him as the man she caught in her home days before he was arrested in the Buckbee Road theft.

Police said Wells worked as a paving contractor and knocked on doors soliciting driveway sealcoating work. When no one answered the door, he went inside.

His guilty plea to third-degree burglary, a felony, satisfied charges in both cases.
