The ex-girlfriend of former AFL footballer Nick Stevens looked "flawless" one week after it's alleged he slammed her head into a tiled wall, a court has heard.

A woman who socialised with the pair over a few months said she saw Stevens' former partner about a week after one of the alleged assaults, in which Stevens is accused of grabbing her around the neck and slamming her head onto a bench and tiled wall.

The woman said she hadn't noticed any injuries on Stevens' "beautiful, absolutely stunning" then-partner, who wore immaculate makeup.

"I never noticed anything to think there was anything beneath it," the acquaintance told Ringwood Magistrates' Court.

"I've never recalled (her) looking anything less than flawless."

The acquaintance said the first time she met Stevens, his then-partner slapped him as he stood talking to a few women at a bar during a cricket gathering.

Stevens was also cross-examined on Monday about a number of text messages sent between him and his then-partner one day after the alleged assault.

The court heard a text message she sent him read "you can't compare how you hit me to how I hit you" in one part, and his response said "I'm sorry, I love you so much and will never touch you".

Stevens told the court he had never punched, kicked or hurt the woman as she had alleged.

The former Carlton and Port Adelaide player is contesting 30 charges of assaulting the woman while they were in a relationship during 2012 and 2013.
