CAMPOBELLO, SC --

As if the ant hills and weeds weren't enough to drive you crazy, the cracks in your driveway are known for attracting a different type of pest, scammers.

"7 or 8 years ago I fell for the scam," admitted Warren O'Sullivan, a homeowner in Campobello.

Now he says they're back.

"They just kind of showed up yesterday out of the blue and started rattling off names of people, supposedly in the area. I think they were trying to establish a relationship."

But O'Sullivan wasn't falling for it.

The Sheriff's office warns, these fly by night pavers will do shoddy work, skip town and leave you with no recourse, or they'll take your money, do half the job, and run.

So how do you know who's legitimate?

- Protect yourself by getting the insurance and licensing information

- Find out how long the company has been in business
