THE Davao City Demolition Unit (CDU) is set to give their final warning to vendors who violate the one-third-two-third policy at Bankerohan Public Market Thursday before conducting a demolition operation in the area this week.

CDU head retired Colonel Yusof Jimlani said that they plan to push through the said demolition in the area together with the Traffic Management Center (TMC) on Friday.

The said demolition operation had been postponed since December last year.

"Sa tinuod lang, involve man gud ug bugas maninda sila tungod makapalit sila ug bugas pagka hapon so naningkamot pud ta na mangita ta ug lugar nila na kabalhinan (To be honest, this is about subsistence, they are selling in order to buy food in the afternoon so we are trying our best to look for a place for them to transfer)," TMC chief retired superintendent Rhodelio Poliquit said.

Jimlani also said that the delay was also due to the effect of the recent events that had happened in the country such as the visit of Pope Francis and the Mamasapano, Maguindanao incident.

"The way I look at it, lain man pud gud na after sa mga nahitabo sa Pilipinas mag-demolish ta didto, dili pud ta ganahan na tan-awon ta nila as irreligious (It is not right that after all that happened in the Philippines we will proceed with demolishing there, we do not want them to look at us as irreligious)," he said.

Jimlani said they will deploy a total of 60 personnel for the demolition operation.

As their demolition operations resumed last January 5, he said that they already had 20 confiscations from their operations around the city wherein most confiscated were fruits that have been donated to charity institutions.
