SEVASTOPOL, Ukraine, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A building in the disputed Crimean Peninsula city of Sevastopol was finally brought down a day after failed demolition attempts left it leaning at a 20-degree angle.

The first demolition attempt Friday left the 16-story Sevastopol building, which the head of the demolition attempt said was made from reinforced concrete and was "built like a bunker," still standing, but with a 20-degree lean. The failed attempt was recorded by members of the public and posted to YouTube.

A second detonation attempt Friday also failed, leading authorities to evacuate the area prior to Saturday's successful demolition.

Authorities said the building was demolished because it was constructed illegally.
