Demolitioncontinues on a former strip center that soon will become a convenience store.

Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip Inc., a chain of convenience stores, opened its first Quad-City location in August at 100 W. 65th St., Davenport.

Now, the company is in the process of building three more. One will be located at Main Street and West Kimberly Road, Davenport, across from NorthPark Mall.

City officials have said the company is demolishing the strip center that once housed Ethan Allen Furniture, a law office, a Mel Foster Co. office, andScott County Republican headquarters, among other tenants.

The store will operate under the name Kwik Star, which it uses for its stores in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The company also has Kwik Stars in surrounding cities, such as Camanche and Clinton, and Tobacco Outlet stores in Bettendorf and Davenport.

Kwik Trip also hasplans to open along 53rd Avenue in Bettendorf near the border with Davenport and at 1225 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport.
