The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadavs ambitious road project, the Agra-Lucknow access-controlled Greenfield Expressway will be developed in five separate packages. The Government on Wednesday completed the bidding process which has paved the way for the construction of the 301.3 kilometre long expressway which will traverse through Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi, Unnao and Lucknow districts. The estimated cost of the road project is about Rs. 10,000 crore.

An official spokesman said while PNC Infratech was selected for developing the Agra-Firozabad stretch, or package, of about 55.3 kilometre of the proposed expressway, the stretch from Firozabad to Etawah (62 kilometre) would be developed by Ifcons Infrastructure. The Etawah to Kannauj (57 kilometre) package by Nagarjuna Construction Company, the Kannauj to Unnao (64 kilometre) package by Ifcons Infrastructure and the UnnaoLucknow stretch (63 kilometre) has been awarded to Larsen and Toubro, the spokesman added.
