Want to get rid of those pesky leaves in your yard?

If you live in the city of Williamsburg, then free leaf pick-up is available to you.

The city announced between November and January, residents can rake loose leaves to the curb for free collection on select weeks.

The leaves do not have to be placed in bags but must be raked to the curb or road edge by 7 a.m. of the first day of any collection week.

Each street on each route will be collected only once during the collection week. In the case of rainy weather, crews will pick up on the route where they left off prior to the rain.

Residents are asked to not rake leaves or debris into the street or a drainage way, and to not mix sticks or limbs into the leaf piles.

Leaf piles should be in an open area for easy vacuum truck access. Piles behind vehicles, trees, or bushes cannot be picked up, according to the city.

Bagged leaves can be placed curbside to be collected with garbage on any garbage collection day, but there is a 10-bag limit per household per collection day.

Come the holidays, Christmas trees can also be collected between Monday, Jan. 4 and Monday, Jan. 11. Trees must be placed at the street before 7 a.m. with all decorations and lights removed.
