CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Jeremy Bush, a local U.S. Navy veteran, and his family got some great news on Monday. They were surprised at the HEB in Portland with the announcement that they will be recipients of a custom built, mortgage-free home.

The announcement comes nine years to the day that Bush was injured in Afghanistan while conducting a movement from Bagram airfield to a destination located in Kabul. He suffered a traumatic brain injury as well as injuries to his back, neck and hips, and has yet to recover.

Bush also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The new house was made possible by HEB, Operation Finally Home and the Builders Association of Corpus Christ. The mission of Operation Finally Home is to provide custom-built, mortgage-free homes to American's military heroes who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedom and values.
