NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- An attempted traffic stop turns into a high speed chase after officers suspect a driver is stealing from a church's construction site.

Officers say they noticed a white Dodge pickup truck pull out of the True North Church construction site along Martintown Road around 9:30 p.m. They say the truck held a large quantity of rebar.

When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver did not stop. The truck then led officers on a high speed chase through Edgefield County.

Officers report going 80-90 miles per hour while in pursuit of the truck. Officers followed the truck all the way through Edgefield County, but the truck got away.

They are still looking for a white Dodge pickup truck with South Carolina plates.
