Base Line Paver Repairs Road Closure

Repairs to the decorative pavers at Base Line/Palm Avenue and Base Line/ Church Avenue have been scheduled for Friday and Saturday of next week. The work hours are set from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. During construction, motorists will not be able to make left or right turns on at these intersections. However, one lane for east-west direction of Base Line will be open. The contractor will tackle one intersection at a time. Work will begin at the intersection of Base Line and Palm Avenue. Detours will be set to assist motorists navigate through the intersection closures. The City thanks you in advance for your cooperation during construction of the paver repairs.

Base Line/Greenspot Road Traffic Safety and Bikeway Improvements

This week the westbound speed feedback and speed limit signs were relocated on Base Line due to conflict with parkway trees. The speed feedback sign on Base Line and Greenspot Road were also activated, ahead of schedule. A gas meter in conflict with the widening improvements was relocated on the north side of Base Line west of Palomino Street. Now that all utility conflicts on Base Line have been resolved between Browning Road and Palomino Street, construction in earnest on the north side of the street will be underway next week.

Greenspot Road Widening Improvements

The contractor continued with installation of electrical wiring, traffic signal loops and adjustment of manholes to grade this week. Next week, traffic signal at Greenspot Road and Boulder Avenue will be restored to normal operation because it is currently on recall where it cycles through all phases. Edison has pushed back service for the decorative street lights on the median and parkway. The lights are estimated to be turned on by October 17th. City staff continues to work closely with Edison to fast-track completion of the overhead transmission lines in order to complete the roadway widening once the power poles are removed.

City-Wide Sidewalk Repairs

Reconstruction of damaged sidewalk and damaged or non-ADA compliant handicap curb ramps at various locations throughout the City; and construction of new sidewalk and new handicap ramps where none exist at various locations throughout the City is set begin Monday, October 13th. Work will begin on the west side of the city and continue to the east. Construction is anticipated to be completed January 30, 2015.

Vine Street Pavement Rehabilitation and Various Street Repairs

Vine Street from Base Line to 13th Street and Tippecanoe Street to east end is being rehabilitated. Improvements include removal and replacement of existing pavement and asphalt concrete overlay. Additionally, this project includes isolated pavement repairs on Tippecanoe Avenue, 3rd Street, 6th Street, Base Line, Highland Avenue, Sterling Avenue, and Greenspot Road. Construction will begin Monday, October 20th. The project is estimated to be completed by December 12th.
