MIRI: Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Lambir is in need of RM800,000 for its new church building.

Building committee member Pemanca Wilson Siang Lim said the church building project is estimated at RM1.3 million.

The site was approved last year and the earth-breaking ceremony is expected in July, he said yesterday.

He explained that the initial cost of construction was RM600,000, but this doubled due to rising prices of materials and the need for new facilities for the church which will be able to accommodate a congregation of 500.

The last two years, the church committee has been running around raising the funds for the construction. Weve received several grant allocations from the government through ministers and peoples representatives as well as keen individuals, he said.

Recently, Minister of Social Development Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom handed over a second government grant of RM25,000.

In November, 2013, Tan Sri Mawan also announced a grant of RM25,000 during the fundraising dinner, thus to sum up, he has contributed a total of RM50,000 in funds for the Holy Trinity Anglican Church project, he said.
