Case Study: Bocci Lighting Installation in Plush Rotunda Penthouse

A private overseas client appointed Sigma London to undertake a lavish light installation in a duplex rotunda penthouse based in Central London. Featuring stunning panoramic views of the citys landscape where magnificent architectural landmarks can be viewed, the building is statuesque in form and the penthouse appears as a beacon from the ground that can be seen for some distance. The property boasts a glazed circular living space with a central void. The top floor folds back from the facade to link the living and dining spaces, which strengthens the height of each room, whilst optimising the breathtaking views.

Sigma London installed a double height Bocci chandelier to strengthen the vertical connection with its floating appearance that descends to fall within the central void with a four metre drop. The chandelier features sixteen individually handblown opaque milk glass spheres created from a complex technique that projects a unique waterfall of light patterns. Suspended from the ceiling on the top floor, each individual pendant falls to a preset height with the final pendant dropping the full four metre height to form the centrepiece to a semi-formal dining table on the lower story.

Urszula Russek, Interior Designer at Sigma London says:

This is a beautifully delicate addition to a spectacular view, which adds a further depth of detail and experience to an otherwise fantastic inner city penthouse."

With their natural light diffusing bubbles, the installation intentionally creates an immersive experience that alters throughout the day and night with multiple reflections beaming from each unique pendant. Each pendant is suspended from a single low voltage cable that powers the low energy fitting, without detracting the view.

Sigma London take a highly personable approach to each commission, which involves creating an individually tailored solution that reflects a real understanding of clients' specific requirements. From renovations and extensions to completely bespoke living spaces, or sourcing one-off pieces, SigmaLondons impressive project portfolio has, until now, been kept exclusive.
