New Jersey climate changes can be brutal! From sweltering summer temperatures at the shore to wintery snow and ice in the cities, we get all the seasons, and often at the extremes. Those kind of condition changes can play havoc on your home especially your windows.

Energy costs never seem to go anywhere but up, and the average home loses untold dollars in additional heating and cooling costs each year through inefficient windows and doors that let in drafts in the winter and allow cool air to escape in the summer. This is why Renewal by Andersen is here; to help you save money, and live a lot more comfortably, by installing brand new Anderson replacement windows in your beautiful New Jersey home.

And even though we place a lot of emphasis on performance, we never forget about the beauty aspect. While Andersen windows can save you a lot of money in heating and cooling costs, they can also enhance the look of your home due to our excellent color matching properties and wood-like appearance that comes from our Fibrex materials. Fibrex is an extremely durable and maintenance free polymer that can be molded to have the look and feel of natural wood without any of the upkeep hassles. In fact it is more durable and requires less maintenance than vinyl without the worry of quick fading or warping that comes from vinyl windows.

And then, of course, there's our great line of Andersen doors. From side and front entry to patio doors, Renewal by Andersen of New Jersey has an incredible selection that will make your home look its best and stop those nasty drafts.

Window of distress for disabled pensioner - August 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Published: 28 Aug 2014 07:300 comments

AN Innerleithen pensioner has been waiting for more than four months to have her broken window replaced.

And frail Sarah Scott could be living in the fire hazard for many more weeks as her social landlord hasnt accepted her neighbours complaints.

The disabled 86-year-old reported problems with her window to Eildon Housing at the start of April.

But several botched repair jobs later her Aitken Bank living room window still cant be opened properly.

Near neighbour and Innerleithen Community Council member Nelson Johnstone told the Peeblesshire News: It was 17 weeks ago when workmen came to try and fix the windows locking system but the timber broke.

Eildon Housing Associations joiner was told to put a strip of wood across the bottom and screw it up so the window would not open.

Im led to believe the window would be one of the exits in the event of a fire, as you could previously open it right up.

As temperatures soared during early summer the pensioner, who suffers from ill health, was unable to ventilate her living room.

Supervisors approve courthouse HVAC replacement - August 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Marshall County received just one bid for the replacement of the heating and air conditioning system for the west side of the courthouse, but it appeared to be good enough.

The board of supervisors approved the bid of $388,800 from Sheet Metal Engineering of Des Moines for the project, which will mirror work already done on the east side of the courthouse. The bid was approved during a regular meeting of the supervisors Tuesday. It's unclear when the project will be completed.

"We'll either get it done this fall or next spring," said Paul Zobel, buildings and grounds director with the county.

T-R PHOTO BY ANDREW POTTER The west side of the Marshall County Courthouse will be getting a $388,800 replacement of the heating and cooling system either this fall or next spring.

Supervisor Chairman Dave Thompson said he was pleased with the amount of the bid and the fact the same company will be doing the work.

"We are going to keep the continuity," he said.

In other action from the meeting, the supervisors approved a $10,000 raise for Jonathan Bailey as he takes over the information services department for the county on an interim basis. Zobel took umbrage with this move since he was not compensated for taking on his role on an interim basis when he took over for Todd Kelley. Zobel said the supervisors should "give very serious" consideration in treating employees the same.

Other county personnel moves also were approved Tuesday including hiring of Colleen Whitmore as a jailer ($17.08 per hour pay rate) and Jordan DeZeeuw as a deputy sheriff ($44,212 annual salary) in the sheriff's office. Promotions were also given to county employees Austin Ewalt in secondary roads and Jeremiah Manken in the conservation department.

The county also entered into a 28E sharing agreement with Warren County as each county will house a backup disaster recovery system on their site and the counties will share the cost of the equipment. This equipment allows for county business to continue operating if local equipment goes down or is unaccessible, Bailey said.

RHAM wants window company to pay for replacements at high school - August 25, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

HEBRON With an increasing number of window failures at RHAM High School, the Board of Education is looking at suing the company that provided and installed windows, Region 8 Board of Education Member Joseph E. OConnor said.

Nearly 300 of the heat-mirror windows have failed and need to be replaced, he said, adding that its likely the remaining 200 windows also will fail and should be replaced.

The windows were made and installed by EFCO, a Missouri company. That particular model is no longer being made by the company.

School officials first raised the issue of window problems in 2013.

While the manufacturer agreed early this year to cover the costs for 166 replacement windows, the school system learned it would have to pay around $125,000 for the shipping, storing, and installation of the windows.

In 2013, RHAM Superintendent of Schools Robert Siminski and maintenance Director Michael Ceresa noticed a pattern of over 160 window failures at the high school, and the problem became worse during the winter of 2013.

Moisture was getting in between the panes of glass due to a failed seal, they said.

Many of the failed windows are stained and discolored due to long-term residual condensation, RHAM Board of Education Chairman Danny Holtsclaw has said.

EFCO recently inspected the school and saw that the number of failed windows had risen to over 300 windows, OConnor said.

But the company said it would honor only the 166 it had agreed to earlier because the warranty expired in 2013, he said.
