One lucky veteran will get the chance to experience Holland's full-blown aerobatic maneuvers in a Window World aerobatic airplane capable of those same flips and turns at next weekend's Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show at the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport on Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29.
Holland and Window World, America's largest replacement window and exterior remodeling company, have teamed up to create the Hero Flight program where military veterans can enter to win the flight.
Holland said he's given between 40 and 50 rides since he began the program five years ago.
"To me, it's just a way to give something back and say thank you," Holland said. "I really enjoy showing people what I do, and to be able to share that with a veteran just makes it more special."
The deadline for veterans to enter the contest for the Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show is Tuesday. To enter, go online to http://www.robholland aerosports.com/hero-flights.html.
The winner of the contest will be randomly chosen this week and informed of the date and time of takeoff.
To be eligible, veterans must have served on active duty in the U.S. military, weigh no more than 200 pounds, and be no taller than 6-foot-2. Nominees should be in good physical condition so they can withstand the G-forces they will experience during the flight and mobile enough to be able to get out of the airplane if there is an emergency.
