Take a look at this cellphone video sent in by a Local 4 viewer.

By the time the camera started rolling Wednesday morning, the window washer finally could relax. Detroit firefighters weren't going to let him fall.

The man was cleaning windows at a building in the 900 block of Henry Street in Detroit when something went wrong with his gear. He was left hanging several feet up the air. When firefighters arrived they quickly raised the ladder. Some of them went inside to help with the rescue, manning the windows.

As they worked to get him down the bucket of water turned over. Minutes later, the window washer was back on the ground and the workers in the office building -- and the one across the street -- went back to work after taking a break to watch this rescue unfold.

The window washer wasn't injured. He didn't want to talk on camera.

A window washer who fell 11 stories onto a car in San Franciscos Financial District remained in critical condition at a hospital on Friday, officials said.

The man, 58-year-old Pedro Perez of San Leandro, who has 15 years of experience washing windows, plunged 130 feet from a building at 400 Montgomery St. on Nov. 21.

One of his three daughters, 19-year-old Monica Perez, told KGO-TV that he fractured his pelvic area, broke his right arm and had internal bleeding, but did not suffer a major head injury.

Hes not on the breathing machine anymore. He can breathe on his own. Hes talking, she told the station this week.

Mohammad Alcozai, the man who was driving the vehicle Perez fell on, said at the time that he thought, God wanted me to be there just at the moment that poor man fell.

Pedestrians in the area helped care for Perez until he was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

The cause of the fall is under investigation by state workplace safety regulators. The company Perez was working for, Century Window Cleaning of Concord, did not respond to a request for comment Friday.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A worker fell screaming 11 stories from the roof of a bank building Friday morning onto a moving car, crushing its roof and sending shattered glass flying into the street, police and witnesses said.

The man suffered critical injuries, but he was conscious, police said.

The car's driver, Mohammad Alcozai, was not injured. He told KGO_TV that he's happy to be alive especially after his car's roof almost completely collapsed in the accident. He said he is praying that the worker survives.

"I'm very happy that I wasn't hurt," Alcozai told the news channel shortly after the accident. "Hopefully he can make it. I pray for him that he can make it."

Alcozai said he saw something hit his car shortly after making a left turn.

Witnesses described seeing a blue streak and the man's shadow as he fell and then hearing shattering glass as he hit the car and then rolled onto the ground. The roof of the car, a green Toyota Camry, was smashed in, and the rear windshield shattered.

Bianca Bahman, who was on the corner where the man fell, said she looked up to see his shadow and ran for cover.

"As he was coming down, he was definitely screaming," Bahman, 31, a pre-medical student at San Francisco State University who was on her way to the gym, said. "It all happened so quickly. It was so instantaneous."

The man, identified by police only as window washer, was moving equipment on the roof of a bank building in the heart of San Francisco's financial district and not on a window-washing platform when he fell, San Francisco police Sgt. Danielle Newman said. The platform was on the ground at the side of the building, and cables were hanging from its sides. It was not clear whether the man was setting the platform up, but he was working with a partner, police said.
