Do I need a permit to remove one or more trees from my property?
In most cases, the answer is No. A permit, however, is required if one or more of the following conditions are true:
It is the vegetative or non-vegetative material that is covering the soil before the tree removal project, and which provides a barrier against erosion.
The bulk of soil cover that is lost due to tree removal is generally from the canopy of the trees that are removed. The tree canopy is the layer of leaves, branches, and stems that cover the ground when view from above.
The area of tree canopy can be estimated based on measurements at the ground level from directly below the tips of the outermost branches. A recent aerial photo can also be used to estimate canopy area.
Any other areas of soil cover loss during tree removal, such as removal of grass, landscaping, structures, etc. must be counted as part of the total removal of soil cover.
The city of Bellevue regulates six types of critical areas in its Land Use Code:
These areas are given special protection because they provide unique environmental functions that are difficult, if not impossible, to replace and because they ensure public health, safety, and welfare.
Visit Permit Processing in Development Services or contact them at 425-452-4898 or permits@bellevuewa.gov.
One of the leading reasons given for tree removals is safety. To ensure you are not needlessly removing an otherwise healthy tree, it pays to talk with a qualified certified arborist or certified forester. There are two websites that can help. Contact the International Society of Arboriculture at http://www.treesaregood.org or the Society of American Foresters at http://www.safnet.org.
Tree ownership is determined by whose property the trunk stands completely on. If the tree is a boundary tree (the trunk straddles a property line), it is owned jointly. In most cases, property owners may trim branches and roots which encroach on their property if they stay within certain guidelines: trim only up to the property line; do not enter the owners property without permission; do not destroy or damage the tree by trimming roots or branches.
If you have a dispute with your neighbor, call the Mediation Program at 425-452-4019. They can help you explore your alternatives, coach you on how to negotiate with your neighbor, or provide free mediation to help you and your neighbor find a workable solution.

When looking for tree removal services, you shouldnt just hire the first company that comes up in an online search. This type of work is highly technical. In the wrong hands, it can result in serious problems. The same thing goes for hiring a tree cutting company. Without the right training and experience, an arborist or tree cutting professional could butcher your tree and leave it in really bad shape. Learn more about how to find the best services for your tree removal, stump removal or grinding, tree cutting or tree trimming needs.
When spring and summer come around, tree owners need to have maintenance done on their trees to ensure new growth and prevent any damage to the home or backyard. While some are willing to take on the responsibility themselves, its sometimes easier and safer to hire professional services to do the job, especially when it might mean felling a tree and removing stumps. However, its hard to decide which service to hire as there are always at least 10 in the city to choose from. So here are the essentials all tree owners should take into consideration when hiring any kind of tree service.
Its easy for someone to buy a small amount of equipment and bill themselves as a tree cutting professional. To ensure that you get the highest level of service possible, you should stick with established companies and hire a company that has a proven track record. Ask for references and follow up on them. Make sure that the tree removal company is licensed and insured as well. There are plenty of honest, experienced companies out there, but there are also plenty of dishonest ones so you should never just take a companys word for it.
Each persons needs are different, so you should ask plenty of questions before hiring a company to perform tree cutting or removal services for you. For example, ask about the following things:
Tree removal is hard work. Its not something that should be handled by inexperienced people. If you want the landscaping of your home to look as nice as possible, you should invest the extra money in hiring a tree cutting company. It may cost more, but it will be done in a safe and effective way.

Tree removal is a major process that tree owners have to do every now and again when a tree has died during the winter, gotten infested with pests or becomes a danger to the home or public right of way. Its one of the most expensive tree care services to pay, averaging anywhere from $560 to $800. As such, you want to be sure and only pay for the service and not additional costs in lawn repair, fence repair or home repairs because it was done incorrectly. Consider this imperative information when hiring tree removal professionals.
You should always ask a professional tree removal service questions before hiring them. Moreover, these should be questions you pose to at least three or four tree removal services to gauge their work history, expertise and how much youre going to pay for each companys services. By asking these questions, you will get the best service from the most qualified pro in the shortest amount of time without endangering your home, property or family members.
Here are the essential questions you should ask tree removal service pros:
After calling all four of these tree removal businesses and getting these answers, tree owners need to look into them a little bit more before settling on a service. Check their websites to see how professional they are, and see if they have ratings and reviews or recommendations from past tree owners who used their service. Look at review services to see what others have said about them. See if any of your neighbors have used their services before. Make sure you get a service you can really trust, as you dont end up in a situation where the tree could potentially fall on your home or in the yard and ruin your flower beds, lawn or the fence.

Although many tree owners may consider tree cutting to be the removal of entire limbs or branches from trees, tree cutting is actually the removal of a tree from its stump by chainsaw. Tree cutting is a very dangerous process as a result, with wood chips flying everywhere and branches strewn out across the lawn for children and pets to potentially get injured. So tree owners need to take steps when hiring a tree cutting service to ensure that their families and property are safe throughout the process.
Akin to tree removal service questions, there are many similar questions that tree owners should ask tree cutting servicesat least threebefore they consider hiring them. These include questions like:
Tree owners should especially ask ahead of time about safety equipment and gear that the tree cutting service has to fell the tree. Chainsaws are a paramount item in the tree cutting process, which means that the tree cutting team should have hard hats, gloves, safety suits, boots, headphones and safety goggles to protect them against the debris of the tree. Tree owners should also ask about the stump and whether the tree cutting service will be willing to remove it afterwards. They might have to pay extra for the service, as tree cutting does not including cutting down to the roots at first to remove the tree.
Once again, do not put money down before the service is rendered. This could lead to tree owners never having the tree removed and being scammed in the process. Also, ask about whether or not they will remove the debris in addition to the tree afterwards, as it could be problematic for tree owners otherwise to clean up the yard and handle all the excess branches and wood chips. Consider having a contract signed between both parties to ensure the work is carried out correctly.
Tree cutting and removal are related jobs because tree cutting is one method by which trees are felled. Chainsaws are popular in arborist circles for quickly getting a tree trunk severed and pulled down. There are also axes and other types of saws available to tree service companies for removal. Tree cutting involves the complete removal of limbs and branches from the tree, rendering it bare before the tree is felled. Thats not always the case with tree removal, depending on the size and girth of the tree along with other factors. However, tree cutting always involves the removal of the tree afterwards although not always the stump, which sets them apart in the field of tree services.

Because trees and shrubs can be impacted by environmental conditions like pests, diseases and climate changes, they often need care and maintenance to keep them in their healthiest condition to survive. Thats why tree owners need to have their trees trimmed and pruned on a regular basis throughout the spring and summer. While some tree owners might be enthusiasts who know how to prune and trim their trees, some might not be sure and accidentally prune their branches too much or make their shrubs too bare. Thats why tree trimming services are around to help.
However, its important to trim down the number of services to hire on your list from 10 to 3 or 4. So here are some crucial factors tree owners need to know and pose to tree trimming services when narrowing down the list.
Any tree trimming or pruning service should be able to provide information about their business and the job, including:
Tree trimming services should also be able to answer questions about their business and the their team, related to their techniques and their background. They should be able to tell a homeowner if:
If your trees and shrubs are near power lines, it might be easier and cheaper for you to call up the power company than a tree trimming service. Many power companies will not charge to come out and trim trees near the power lines, as it is safer for them to cut near the power lines than for an arborist to do it and potentially cause a power outage for the neighborhood. Many arborists will not even trim trees that are near power lines. Check where your tree is located and if the branches are within reach of a power line. If its touching a power line or within a foot or two of a power line, its worth calling your power company and asking them what the best course of action is before calling a tree trimming service.
Many tree owners consider spring and summer as the best time for tree trimming and pruning. However, it doesnt hurt to double check and ask tree trimming services about whether or not its the right time for trimming and pruning when you call them. They will be able to advise you and ensure your tree stays healthy and continues to grow. Thats why theyre certified and have been in the field.

Street Trees must be protected and preserved unless the permit application for the removal and replacement has been approved. Exceptions to this requirement are allowed for emergency removal necessary for public safety. City of Seattle policy may require monetary compensation and/or a replacement for every tree permitted for removal. Tree replacement is required, as site conditions allow, using the same or similar species that provides the same level of tree canopy at maturity.
The permit application for a removal requires a professional Tree Risk Evaluation and the tree is:
A yellow Tree Removal Notice is required as part of every street tree removal permit. Removal Notices must be in place for a minimum of 14 days prior to removal as a condition of permit issuance. You may post a Tree Removal Notice yourself when submitting your removal permit application. You do not need to wait for permit approval to post the tree and begin the 14-day period. If you choose not to post the tree yourself, SDOT will post the removal notice at a later date when inspecting the tree.
Tree Removal Notices must be posted using the following standards:

For information on additional requirements to remove a street tree, please see the Street Tree Manual. Please note that simply posting a Tree Removal Notice for 14 days does not allow you to remove a street tree.

Tree removal occurs when trees are dead dying, diseased, or hazardous. Public trees are protected by Massachusetts State Law Chapter 87. The removal of a healthy public tree requires an advertisedpublic hearing. If a tree is declared by the Tree Warden to be an immediate hazard to the public, a hearing is not required.
We do not remove City trees without good reason. We do not remove trees because they drop leaves or acorns, because it has grown too large or shades your lawn, or because it is not conveniently located. We will remove trees that are hazardous. In the context of state law, a hazard tree poses a threat to persons and/or property. As defined by the International Society of Arboriculture, a hazard tree must meet three criteria:
1. The tree is sufficiently large enough to cause damage should it fall;2. The tree has a target (that would be damaged should it fall);3. The tree has a condition that would make it likely to fall.
We will promptly inspect requests for removal. In many cases, a tree may be developing a condition that would ultimately make it a hazard, but not imminently. The removal of such trees requires a public hearing as prescribed by state law. In some cases, the entire tree may not be hazardous, but some maintenance work is required. We will enter that work request into our database and schedule the work within our priorities.

Tree stump – Wikipedia -
December 4, 2018 by
Mr HomeBuilder
After a tree has been cut and felled, the stump or tree stump is usually a small remaining portion of the trunk with the roots still in the ground. Stumps may show the age-defining rings of a tree. The study of these rings is known as dendrochronology.
Stumps (both those on the ground and stumps of removed branches) are sometimes able to regenerate into new trees. Often, a deciduous tree that has been cut will re-sprout in multiple places around the edge of the stump or from the roots.[1] Depending on whether the tree is being removed permanently or whether the forest is expected to recover, this can be either desirable or undesirable. Stump sprouts can grow very quickly and sometimes become viable trees themselves either for aesthetics or timber, due to the existing root structure; however, the cut portion of the trunk may weaken the sprouts and introduce disease into the newly forming tree(s).
The process of deliberately cutting a tree to a stump to regrow is known as coppicing.[2]
Tree stumps can be difficult to remove from the ground. They can be dug out, shredded with a stump grinder or burnt.
A common method for stump removal is to use one of the many chemical stump removal products, so long as immediate results are not needed. These stump removers are mostly made of potassium nitrate (KNO3) and act by rapidly increasing the decay of the stump. After an average of 46 weeks, the stump will be rotten through and easily fragmented in manageable pieces. If time is a limiting factor, setting fire to the stump is effective because once the potassium nitrate has been absorbed it acts as an effective oxidizer.
Historically, an explosive called stumping powder was used to blast stumps.
In plantation forests in parts of Europe, stumps are sometimes pulled out of the ground using a specially adapted tracked excavator, to supply wood fuel for biomass power stations. Stump harvesting may provide an increasing component of the woody material required by the biomass power sector.

One of the most beautiful things about our planet is the trees we see everywhere. In Florida, palm trees are everywhere, but we also have 100s of other varietals that take special care in unique ways. Our arboriculture practice is always up to date, giving special attention to the most effective techniques and ways to service your trees. We always prioritize safety, when analyzing and executing tree care.
You may be asking yourself, when do I know I should hire this out vs. DIY?
With hurricanes, tropical storms, and bad weather in our rhythm of life, we highlight structural pruning in every job we perform. This improves the strength of your trees by taking away the weaker branches and vulnerable spots that could cause damage to your home or lawn. We reduce the tips on palm trees, and prune the trees into a foundation of great stability against high winds.
Thinning is a regular practice for tree care we provide, helping reduce weight and increase the beautiful look of your trees. Diseases can form as too many branches and shoots form on trees, so regularly thinning keeps them healthy and happy.
Not only do we thin trees, but our team knows you care about maintaining an attractive look and visual so when you come home you love your property. Shaping your trees is a service that differentiates us from other companies, we take pride in our artistic arborists! Think of it like getting a $10 haircut vs. a $200 one. We make your property look great. We would love your specific requests when trimming your trees if you desire a unique look or appearance.
Pruning your trees brings life, not death. Just like a fire needs oxygen to grow and become strongeryour tree needs pruning to maximize its vitality, health, and lifespan.

Tree Removal Service In Colorado -

Tree damage to your property can be prevented with tree removal services.
It is a scary image to see a tree that has fallen on a home or other property. The amount of damage can be tremendous and when it happens it needs to be removed as soon as possible. To think with proper tree maintenance it can be avoided makes the sight of tree damage to property even more disturbing. Property and casualty claim data indicate that the insurance industry spends billions of dollars each year removing fallen trees and shrubs (trees) from insured structures and properties. Claims involving trees tipping over in the Denver, COarea have sharply risen over the last ten years because of a number of factors. Among the factors are the occurrence of stronger, more violent storms; growth of the green movement, which is causing an increase in the acquisition of landscape materials and new plantings as well as the preservation of large trees during construction; and an increase in land development that encroaches upon natural areas containing mature trees. (Source: http://www.propertycasualty360.com) Tree removal service can remove old, diseased, and dying trees on your property that are a hazard to your home and other property. Our expert tree techs and year of experience ensure that your tree removal job no matter how big or small will be completed safely and with as little damage to your landscape as possible at a competitive price.
When you hire us you hire the tree removal experts. We are licensed, insured, and have years of tree removal experience.
Jim and Betty Thompson called us because they had a tree that was dropping large limbs in their yard. After arriving to their home in Denver, COwe checked the tree's health to see if it could be saved. Unfortunately the tree had become infested with beetles and needed to be removed. The Thompson's liked the shade the tree gave them but liked the idea of having more of their backyard available for their children to play in more. They hired us to remove the tree and due to the proximity of the home the tree was able to be reached by our bucket and crane trucks so that we could remove it in sections. This is a dangerous climb so it was great to be able to use the bucket and crane trucks. Bugs that have damaged a tree can damage the core thus weakening the top of the tree. This could result in the tree breaking off while we are up in it and leading to a very bad day for our climber. Thankfully we were able to take the tree down without any problems thanks to our great equipment.
Testimonial:
They did a fantastic job on our tree removal we were very scared about how close it was to our home but thankfully we hired the right team for the job.
