    Subterranean Termite Inspection & Control

Termite Inspection You cant assume your home is termite-free just because youve never seen them they only swarm once or twice a year, and you might miss it! Your pest management professional will inspect your home or business, looking for the tell-tale signs of termite infestation. The inspection will take place in five main areas: the exterior, the interior, the attic, below-ground areas like basement or crawl spaces, and the outlying storage and garage areas. Some of the things we look for are:

Attention Realtors and Mortgage Brokers We offer Real Estate transfer Termite Inspections and Reports.

Subterranean Termite Pre-Treatments for New Construction

Better for the environment. When you pre-treat wood and concrete with Bora-Care, thats all you treat. With soil treatments, hundreds of gallons of pesticides are pumped directly into the ground. Bora-Care, however is applied directly to either wood or concrete and that is where it stays. Bora-Care can even be used on lakeside homes. As the pest management industry becomes more environmentally conscious our pre-treatments with Bora-Care continues to be the prime choice for those looking to protect our delicate surroundings.

Termite Facts Subterranean termites are extremely destructive. First they build tunnels to wooden structures, and then they burrow into those structures to obtain food. Any wood or cellulose-containing material constitutes termite food, and given time to do so, theyll eat until nothing is left but a shell. Termites avoid light and air, so they build their colonies where youre not likely to stumble upon them. Is it a termite or an ant? On the off chance you do see them, remember that its easy to confuse termites with ants. Fortunately, there are features that distinguish them.

Local Pest Control Company Warns Against Increase in Termite Swarms - August 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB) August 03, 2014

JS Pest Control, a leading provider of pest control services for Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin and Boulder City, warned today that recent wet weather may encourage termite swarming in coming weeks.

With more rain in the forecast, residents should be particularly cautious about termite infestations, according to the company, which has been protecting Las Vegas homes and businesses since 1999. Our areas typically dry climate is good for preventing termite infestations, said Jimmy Stephenson, owner of JS Pest Control. But when we get rainy, wet weather, it really encourages swarming, and termites multiply quickly. The best bet is to get the termites exterminated quickly, before they multiply and you have extensive and expensive damage on your hands.

Rainy weather attracts termites because the insects prefer wet wood to dry wood. When rain soaks into structures and humidity keeps the moisture in, termites will soon begin to swarm.

Our customers sometimes try to treat the problem themselves, but end up paying more in repairs in the long run because the problem continues to multiply. The best bet is to get professional help as soon as possible, said Stephenson.

That help is easy to find, according to JS Pest Control. The company provides a complete suite of termite control treatments, including services for single-family dwellings or full subdivisions and commercial structures. The skilled technicians at JS Pest Control can also provide a thorough, honest inspection of your home to determine what type of treatment is needed.

    ABOUT JS PEST CONTROL

Known in and around town as the best Las Vegas pest control company in the industry, JS Pest Control combines exceptional service with a superior level of expertise. JS Pest Control understands the importance of having a home that is safe, comfortable and pest free, providing its customers with only the most knowledgeable and capable pest control professionals. JS Pest Controls client relationships are an important part of its business and the company aims to provide only the most positive experiences. RICHARD FAGERLUND: Bagged water creates double-vision-plus havoc for flies - June 22, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    ........................................................................................................................................................................................

Several interesting items in this column: First, about 15 years ago, I wrote a column about how Ziploc baggies filled with water will deter flies. I read a piece about how it was tested at a Midwestern university. It really works. You fill the bags with water, and if you want, put a few pennies in the bag, although that isnt necessary but a lot of people do it. Then, tape the bag to a door, window or anywhere else you dont want flies. It has to be someplace where it gets sunlight, as the light in the water causes the flies, which have many eye facets, to see double a hundred times over and they get really confused and dont know where they are and leave the area.

There are a lot of restaurants that put these bags on poles in their outside dining areas. It also works in barns and other places where flies like to congregate.

So if you have flies and you want them somewhere else, hang some Ziploc bags with water in the area. If you want to catch the flies, put out a bowl of vinegar with some sugar in it and you will catch a bunch of them. Either way is much better than using pesticides that do more damage than good.

On a scary note, I was in a large, well-known restaurant recently talking to them about how they can do their own pest control. Oddly enough, their regular pest control company was there servicing the restaurant while I was there.

    Richard Fagerlund.

That wasnt on purpose, simply just coincidence. I watched this fellow as he was spraying pesticide with an aerosol can along baseboards, around tables and even in areas where women were working. It was totally unreal and this is a very well-known large company. After he left, we looked in closets and there were sticky traps full of roaches that this fellow never checked. It may have been one of the worst pest services I have seen in a long time.

There were lots of German roaches in areas the fellow never looked or sprayed. I showed the folks how to spray the roaches with a mixture of alcohol, water and soap, and the roaches were dropping all over the place. I showed them several other things they can do to solve their problem, such as pheromone traps and they will do so. First, they are going to cancel the service of the company that was there.

On another occasion, I was called downtown to give someone an opinion on a termite inspection he had. It was an apartment complex with four buildings that had crawl spaces.

The company gave him a bid of over $4,000 to treat all the buildings. When I went out there, it was clear the company never even went under the buildings, as most of the crawl-space openings were either blocked or just not accessible. The fellow said that when he mentioned that the bid was too high, the company offered to reduce it to $2,500 and just treat under the building and not around the perimeter. This is, of course, totally illegal.

Gemtek Pest Control Announces Full Release of Pest+ Bed Bug and Termite Protection - June 15, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) June 12, 2014

Gemtek Pest Control, Inc announced today that its newly introduced Pest+ Bed Bug and Termite Protection will be included as a part of all new standard service agreements. Additionally, current customers will be able to add the program to their service plans for $120 per year. The program will remain optional for all service plans, but will not be available as a stand-alone product.

Pest+ was introduced several months ago in light of increased bed bug and termite activity in the state of Idaho. The program was created with the consumer in mind, offering an alternative to dealing with the insects, and providing customers with a buffer against high costs for treatment and repair. Typical treatment and repair costs can reach thousands of dollars.

Bed bug populations have spiked over the last decade due to increased travel and stiffer pesticide regulations. These insects find their way into homes by hitchhiking on luggage and clothing, and have been found in hotels, apartments, movie theaters, and on second-hand items.

Termites continue to be a problem for homeowners as they are easily introduced to new areas through wood and lumber shipments. According to estimates, termites cause over $5 billion in property damage and are a source of scrutiny when it comes to home sales and loans.

The protection provided by Pest+ includes an annual home and crawl space inspection for bed bugs and termites. If either of the insects are present, Gemtek will treat them with no additional cost. At the same time, customers will still receive Gemteks signature service for general pest treatment.

About Gemtek Pest Control, Inc.: Gemtek Pest Control was founded in 2006 and is now Idahos largest pest control company. With over 10,000 active accounts in the Treasure Valley, McCall, Sun Valley, and Twin Falls, Gemtek prides itself on giving the best customer service in the industry. Gemtek is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and received the Super Service Award from Angies List in 2013.

Termite Inspection & Control | Simi Valley, Oxnard … - June 11, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    How we can help you:

The first thing to do is have your home inspected. Sentry will thoroughly inspect your home or business, looking for the tell-tale signs of termite infestation. Areas of termite infestations will be marked with chalk (where accessible) so that you or anyone else can see where the problems are. You will receive an inspection report detailing our findings, recommendations and a written estimate. Then, you can decide whats best for you!

You cant assume your home is termite-free just because youve never seen them they only swarm once or twice a year, and you might miss it! Click here to schedule your free no obligation inspection or call at 805-527-8002.

"Company A (Terminix) wanted $4400 for my problem. Company B (Gold Coast) bid $3860. Sentry got the job done for over a thousand dollars less and with a longer warranty. Its been 5 months and so far no termites. Plus, they schedule annual visits to make sure my pests are gone. John also trapped a raccoon in my backyard that I didn't even know was there. I'm glad I called them." - Rudy C., Camarillo CA

Sentry will work with you to determine the best treatment option for your property, based on the extent of your termite damage and infestation. Not all homes need to be fumigated. If your home only has a few small areas of Drywood Termite infestations and they are accessible for treatment, localized treatments can be very effective.

If you have a small Drywood Termite problem and its accessible for treatment, have it locally treated before it spreads throughout your whole house and does a lot of damage. Wait too late and fumigation may be your only solution. If your home has numerous areas of Drywood Termites and/or areas of infestation that extend into areas that cannot be possibly reached for treatment, we will recommend a complete Termite fumigation. Were not going to recommend something that we know wont work.

    Options we use include:

Sentry may recommend local spot treatments with Termidor when appropriate. As a Termidor certified company, we are licensed to apply this termite defense product.

We will apply a liquid dilution of Termidor along the foundation walls of your home to create a continuous treatment zone. The application method is called "trenching" or "trenching and rodding," and may sometimes require drilling holes through slabs or other hard surfaces adjacent to the foundation of your home for maximum protection. We may also treat conducive or termite active areas from the interior of your home, depending on the extent of the termite infestation and damage. Depending on your situation, a minimally disruptive Termidor treatment along the exterior perimeter of your home may be all the protection your home will need.

Mosquito invasion expected after storms - May 31, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    HOUSTON -

Days of heavy, continuous rain has left behind pools of standing water, the number one breeding ground for mosquitoes. Experts say the stage is now set for one giant invasion.

"If they are having a problem, that's when I get involved," said Glenn Gamache with John Moore.

On Thursday, he was out conducting a termite inspection. This time next week will likely be a different story.

"Going around a home like this, treating the bushes for mosquitoes where they are sleeping during the daytime. That way we can get them before they are biting our customers," Gamache said.

To prevent an all-out assault, check for and eliminate standing water around your home, walk the entire property and look for those less obvious, out of the way spots, and don't forget to arm yourself with a good insect repellent.

Mosquito experts insist now is the time to act before it gets too hot.

"As the temperature increase, the life cycle goes faster. So probably by next week, the middle of next week you are going to see an uptick in mosquitoes," said Kyle Flatt, with Harris County Mosquito Control.

The greater Houston area is home to more than 50 species of mosquitoes and some may carry the deadly West Nile virus.

Landscaper Terry Collins isn't fooled. He knows just because he can't see mosquito larvae in a puddle, doesn't mean they are not there.
