Multiple ambulances were called to a Gold Coast neighborhood nursing home Thursday morning when a car fire was accompanied by heavy smoke and triggered the buildings sprinkler system.

An EMS Plan I response, which brings at least five ambulances, was called for the home at 66 W. Oak St. about 8:15 a.m. The building is the Warren Barr Pavilion.

A car in a lower-level parking garage was on fire, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The 9-story nursing homes sprinkler system was activated and firefighters walked through each floor and stairwell to make sure that no one was injured, according to Fire Media.

Within minutes, the fire was out but announcements were made to the residents to remain where they were as the smoke cleared out.

There were no reported injuries or transports to hospitals.
