Deck Helmet Reviews Top Tips for National Home Improvement Month - April 4, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Deck Helmet, a top-rated deck restoration company in Bethesda, Maryland, will be celebrating National Home Improvement Month in May 2013 with an incredible deal for homeowners looking to upgrade and enhance their deck.

Bethesda, Maryland (PRWEB) April 01, 2013

According to a consumer poll from NARI.org, the official website of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), the largest determining factor for deciding to do it yourself or hire a professional was cost, at 40 percent. Thirty percent of respondents placed project type and know-how as the second most important factor, and level of difficulty was close behind at 25 percent. Safety and length of time required to complete the project were last, with 2 and 3 percent respectively.

With home prices rising throughout the United States for the first time in the past five years, many homeowners are thinking about making modest renovations that can increase the value of their existing home without costing a small fortune. While many are still reluctant to make major renovations there are many smaller updates that can transform the look and feel of a home. Homeowners are reconsidering costly deck replacement which can easily cost more than $10,000 and choosing Deck Helmet for deck resurfacing and refinishing as a cost effective alternative, says Jason Apter, owner and President of Deck Helmet.

Safety is another concern for people with aging decks, by replacing warped and rotting wood and resecuring railings and stairs, we have helped hundreds of homeowners enjoy their deck year round with the safest and most affordable deck resurfacing system around.

Other popular home renovations this season include upgrading kitchens and bathrooms with new flooring and modern energy-efficient appliances, roof repair/replacement and exterior painting and siding. National Home Improvement Month is a great opportunity to think about how to add improvements that will enrich the quality of your life and increase the value of your home, says Apter.

    About Deck Helmet

Pence backs merit selection for new juvenile court judge - March 13, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

INDIANAPOLIS | Gov. Mike Pence is siding with Judge Mary Beth Bonaventura, his new director of the IndianaDepartment of Child Services, in favoring merit selection to replace her as head ofLake County's Juvenile Court.

The Republican governor told reporters Wednesday that Bonaventura was chosen through merit selection, has done an outstanding job as juvenile court judge and her successor should be picked the same way.

"I think Lake County, under Judge Bonaventura, has become a model for the nation with its juvenile court system," Pence said. "I think it's extremely important that the families and communities and kids that are affected by that receive the same level of service and leadership that they've received over the last 30 years."

Under merit selection, which is intended to remove politics from the courtroom, Pence would appoint the new juvenile court judge from among three candidates recommended by a nine-member panel headed by Supreme Court Justice Robert Rucker, a Gary native.

Bonaventura last week asked Indiana's high court to prevent Judge Nicholas Schiralli from becoming the new juvenile division leader because he was initially elected judge, not chosen through merit selection, and shouldn't be eligible to transfer to the juvenile court post.

Pence said he's been monitoring thedisputeand hopes it can be resolved in a way that satisfies all parties, butreiterated he supports merit selection for Bonaventura's replacement.

"It can officially be the first time that I agree with Judge Bonaventura," Pence said. "So you can put me down as a yes."

HARSHAVILLE, Ohio | Plans are moving forward for a $536,000 renovation of the Harshaville Covered Bridge in Adams County.

According to Adams County Engineer David C. Hook, Harshaville Covered Bridge on Graces Run Road in Oliver Township will be closed to all through traffic for renovations beginning March 18.

The Harshaville Bridge was one of very few bridges not destroyed as Morgans Raiders made their way through the area during the Civil War.

The renovation is needed to ensure the historic aspect of the covered bridge isn't lost, will maintaining a safe and efficient travel route for the public.

Renovations include replacement of sections of truss, steel beams, roof and siding, installation of a glue-laminated floor, abutments and piers reconstruction.

Clearance will be increased to help accommodate larger vehicle traffic, approaches will be improved and will include guardrail installation, and the entire structure will be painted and sealed with fire-retardant, graffiti-resistant material.
