BRAZEN thieves are breaking in to garden sheds - by dismantling them.

Police are investigating after a series of thefts where sneaky raiders - armed with screwdrivers - took the doors off of huts in an attempt to nick valuable items inside.

While residents sleep, the culprits are unscrewing hinges to try and get their hands on anything from garden furniture and golf clubs to power tools and lawn mowers.

It is understood they are also trying to steal high-value bikes.

Cops have stepped in to warn householders about thieves roaming gardens in the middle of the night.

They urged residents to be "extra vigilant" in a bid to tackle the growing menace.

With expensive garden equipment such as mowers, strimmers and hedge cutters often stored inside, sheds were considered easy pickings by thieves.

A police source said: "Thieves are always on the look-out for an opportunity to steal.

"Most average thieves does not want to attract attention, or confront homeowners, and if doors and windows are locked they will move on.

"But we're finding that more and more, they are now not moving on very far and simply targeting garden sheds and garages.

Avisail Garcia needs to work on his plate discipline, but should get the chance to showcase his talent with the White Sox in 2015

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Avisail Garcia dropped around 15 pounds during the offseason in order to help everything from his baserunning to tracking baseballs in the outfield. He spoke about that weight-loss program Saturday morning at Camelback Ranch, maintaining a good sense of humor in regard to the accomplishment.

When asked if the weight loss was tough, Garcia acknowledged that it was because he wants to eat. When asked what he eats now, Garcia rattled off his new menu.

"Lettuce, a lot of vegetables and salad every day," Garcia said. "It's good because I feel great, and I have to be skinny."

As for what he wishes he could eat, Garcia went with beef, arepa (flatbread), pasta with meat and chicken.

"But I can't do it right now," said a smiling Garcia. "I don't want to go to the restaurant. I don't want to see chicken, beef or all that stuff. I want to see fish, salad, that's it. After the game, I have to go to my bed and sleep, because if I stay up late? Mmm, problem."

This weight loss apparently has paid dividends for Garcia, who said he's been running to first base in four seconds.

"I want to eat, but I want to do that," Garcia said. "So I'm happy."
