St Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) February 23, 2015
Arch Interim Housing announced two additions to their St Louis luxury corporate housing properties. The two locations join a long list of available St Louis extended stay housing for corporate executives available from Arch Interim Housing.
Choosing St Charles as one of our new St Louis furnished apartment locations was an easy decision to make, said Arch Interim Housing CEO Robb Lax of the newly built Residences at Streets of St Charles location. St Charles is well known for its historic charm. We wanted to give corporate executives staying in St Louis an option to live in modern luxury while still retaining the historic feel of the St Charles area. Our new St Louis corporate housing location at the Residences at Streets of St Charles is a perfectly integrated mixed-use setting. Each high quality, full furnished apartment features a washer and dryer, memory foam mattresses, high speed internet, and housewares for the kitchen, bath, and bedroom. One of the most appealing aspects of this recently constructed luxury living complex is its central St Charles location. The St Charles corporate apartments offer convenient access to major highways as well as access to all that historic St Charles has to offer.
The second addition of luxury extended stay suites in St Louis from Arch Interim Housing is Vanguard Crossing, located in University City near the U City Loop. We knew a University City location for our St Louis corporate apartments was the right choice, said Mr. Lax on the Vanguard Crossing corporate housing apartments. Along with our newly constructed location in historic St Charles, we wanted corporate and furnished apartments in St Louis that would showcase the rich artistry and culture of the city. The Vanguard Crossing location is the perfect combination of that. This sophisticated St Louis corporate housing apartment community is within walking distance to Clayton. In addition, our new University City luxury apartments are just minutes from Downtown St Louis, great restaurants and entertainment via easy access to highways. Our Vanguard Crossing corporate living complex offers many lavish features, including on site car wash facilities, a saltwater swimming pool with outdoor kitchen and cabana areas, and a climate controlled wine cellar. All of our St Louis luxury corporate housing apartments are fully furnished because our main mission is to make our customers feel at home during their temporary housing stay.
With the newly constructed St Charles and University City locations, Arch Interim Housing offers more than 30 St Louis luxury corporate housing locations. The full location list and details on each corporate housing facility can be found on Arch Interim Housings website. These materials can be useful for discussing how the Second Amendment ought to be interpreted. I intentionally include more materials here than any teacher will likely use, to give people flexibility in picking and choosing.
Second Amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
English Bill of Rights: That the subjects which are protestants may have arms for their defence suitable to their conditions and as allowed by law (1689). 1
Connecticut: Every citizen has a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state (1818). 2
Kentucky: [T]he right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned (1792). 3
Massachusetts: The people have a right to keep and to bear arms for the common defence (1780). 4
North Carolina: [T]he people have a right to bear arms, for the defence of the State; and, as standing armies, in time of peace, are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power (1776). 5

Even though pitchers and catchers weren't required to be at the ballpark on Sunday, a handful of Blue Jays showed up to get some extra work in. One of those was veteran left-hander Mark Buehrle, who is ready to get going after the club's offseason additions of Russell Martin, Josh Donaldson and Michael Saunders.
"We know what Russell Martin brings to the table and his competitiveness," Buehrle said. "It's on paper right now. We have seven or eight months of baseball to play to see if it works out and how good it works. We'll just go out there and play, start here in Spring Training, start gelling together, and we'll see where it takes us."
The Blue Jays will spend the next week and a half going through morning workouts in preparation for the start of their Grapefruit League schedule, which opens with an afternoon game against the Pirates on March 3. Exhibition play will continue through a two-game series against the Reds in Montreal on April 3-4.
Outlook: Pompey has speed, should reach base often
Dalton Pompey is only 22 years old, but has a shot to start for the Blue Jays due to his impressive speed and ability to reach base
There should be a number of competitions to keep a close eye on throughout camp. Dalton Pompey and Kevin Pillar are vying for the starting spot in center, and there could be as many as five players in the mix for the starting job at second base, with Maicer Izturis, Ryan Goins and Devon Travis the early frontrunners.
The biggest uncertainty on this team, though, can be found in the bullpen. Toronto lost Casey Janssen to free agency, and the club has come up short in its attempt to add another big piece. That has caused plenty of speculation that the bullpen will become a major weakness on the roster, but left-hander Brett Cecil doesn't want to hear about that.
Cecil pointed to the fact that the bullpen was supposed to be a weakness in 2013 and ended up becoming a major strength. Last year, the opposite was true, as expectations were high and the results were subpar, at best.
"Stuff like that can definitely shift from year to year," said Cecil, who is expected to compete with rookie Aaron Sanchez for the closer's role. "We have some new faces in here, and I'm looking forward to the competition that you're going to have throughout the entire field in this Spring Training. It's going to be interesting."

Third in a series. The Allentown Public Library celebrates the 50th year of incorporation in March. As part of this remembrance and celebration, the Messenger-Press offers a series chronicling the story of the library in Allentown.
As we celebrate the 50th year of the incorporation of the Allentown Public Library, we appreciate that the long history of the Allentown Public Library is a story of generation after generation of small town can-do spirit.
So far in this series, we have heard the story of the early Library Association as told by J.W. Naylor, founder and editor of the Messenger, and a staunch advocate of the towns public library.
From an article he published Feb. 25, 1904, we learned how a group of amateur performers in the 1870s organized the Allentown Dramatic Association and put on entertainments to raise money for a public library.
Their fairs were well patronized and were a financial success, reports the 1904 article. After two years, the group had raised enough money to warrant taking steps towards organizing a regular library association.
For this part of the story, it took hours to pinpoint the location of Wetherill Hall, a significant detail as this was where the first library was housed. The location was determined by cross-checking between the Allentown Messenger articles and the Historic Sites inventory as well as consulting with town historian John Fabiano and with special thanks to Alice Wikoff.
We pick up the story from Naylors 1904 article:
The first meeting was held Monday evening, October 4, 1875, in Wetherills Hall.
(Originally the Stout-Fisk grocery store at 34 S. Main St., that building was torn down and replaced in 1881 with a house that now has extensive additions on the back, which several years ago housed the Messenger-Press.)
Dr. A.A. Howell was named chairman, at which time a committee of three was appointed to draft a constitution and by-laws for the association. There was also a committee of three to secure a room for library purposes.

On the Cusp: Chicago White Sox -
February 20, 2015 by
Mr HomeBuilder
Here are the White Sox prospects I think have a chance to make an impact in Chicago in 2015, listed by their rankings in the White Sox Top 20 Prospects list.
Outlook: Rodon shows high strikeout potential
Carlos Rodon has displayed high-strikeout stuff in the Minors with a 13.9 K/9 and could make an impact if placed in the White Sox rotation
Carlos Rodon | LHP | 6-foot-3, 235 pounds | No. 1 It's hard to believe that after having been selected as the third player overall in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, Rodon is almost finished with his development and could appear on Chicago's 25-man roster at some point in the season. Tossing only 24 1/3 innings in the Minors, Rodon was able to make three starts in Triple-A in his first pro season. He threw to a combined 2.96 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He struck out an average of 14.1 hitters per nine innings. Amazing. But he also walked 4.8 per nine. His control is an area that needs improvement. Last season the 22-year-old did not allow a single home run. While he can bring his fastball to the high 90s, his best pitch is a wicked slider. His third pitch, used more sparingly, is an average changeup. Once Rodon shows he can command and control all three pitches consistently, he could knock on the door of the big league club and be more than welcome to enter.
Top Prospects: Micah Johnson, 2B, White Sox
2015 MLB.com Top Prospects: Micah Johnson has superior speed and the tools to be a table-setter at the top of a lineup
Micah Johnson | 2B | 6-feet, 190 pounds | No. 4 Johnson is a bit behind teammate Carlos Sanchez (see below) on the second base depth chart. Johnson has very good speed that should lead to stolen bases. He has a .297 career Minor League batting average in parts of three seasons. He has had elbow surgery in the past, but that's now behind him. Short and quick, Johnson is a solid gap hitter with little home run power. Although he's improving, he isn't the best overall defender, and that's an area for further development moving forward.
Matt Davidson | 3B | 6-foot-2, 225 pounds | No. 8 Set to turn 24 during Spring Training, the right-handed-hitting Davidson came to the White Sox in a trade with the D-backs that sent Addison Reed to the desert. Davidson had a tough 2014 season, hitting .199 at Triple-A Charlotte in 539 plate appearances. The redeeming factor has been his power, and during that difficult season he managed to pound 20 home runs. However, he struck out 164 times. Seen as "stiff" and lacking mobility, Davidson has to prove himself at third base.

Resurgence continues Pirates begin camp searching for final pieces
Wednesday, February 18, 2015 4:05 AM EST
PITTSBURGH The Pittsburgh Pirates have spent the last two seasons transforming themselves from laughingstock to legitimate contender.
The next step might be the hardest. Yet the Pirates begin spring training this week confident theyve made the necessary moves to produce a third straight playoff appearance one they hope lasts longer than a mere cameo.
We feel good about our additions, general manager Neal Huntington said.
Even if those additions have a largely familiar feel. Pittsburgh re-signed starter Francisco Liriano with the most expensive free agent contract in club history. A.J. Burnett, whose arrival in 2012 augured a significant and vital change in mindset, left millions on the table in Philadelphia to make one last run in a place where he revitalized his once flagging career. Rather than wait for the inevitable, the Pirates traded for catcher Francisco Cervelli before Toronto went deep in the vault to lure All-Star Russell Martin to his native Canada.
The clubs payroll will near a team record $90 million in 2015. While its spending still ranks near the bottom of the National League, payroll has more than doubled in the last five years.
Weve got to be efficient and effective but our margin for error is a little larger, Huntington said. Weve allocated resources to our bench and weve built a deeper club because there is more money available to us.
Huntington simply hopes its money well spent. The Pirates still have several key questions as they look to keep pace with St. Louis and fend off the resurgent Chicago Cubs in perhaps the most competitive division in baseball. Heres what to look for over the next six weeks as Pittsburgh prepares for a season it hopes will carry past early October:
PEDROS PROGRESS: The Pirates hope a change in perspective will change Pedro Alvarezs fortunes. The former first-round pick saw his right arm betray him time and again at third base last year. He had 25 errors in just 99 games and will start camp in the mix at first. Alvarez doesnt need to be dynamic defensively, merely adequate. His strength will always be his bat, which when hot is one of the most dangerous in the NL.

Penn, Temple growth plans -
February 17, 2015 by
Mr HomeBuilder
At its Feb. 17 monthly meeting (typically 1 pm, upstairs at 1515 Arch St.) the Philadelphia City Planning Commission expects to review these 12 scheduled items. Highlights:
- The University of Pennsylvania: 1) plans to demolish the former Penn Tower hotel building between its museum, med school and parking garage, with a complex to be designed by British architect Norman Foster (who's also planned the second Comcast tower); as an early step, Penn wants to replace the current enclosed second-story footbridge linking the Tower to the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, with a "temporary" five-year span. 2) In other Perelman upgrades, Penn plansto add two 7-story, 52,000 square foot expansions to what's now the "Ronald O. Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics" (the former Mellon Bank building) at 133 S. 36th St.
- Temple spreads: The university plans to add the former William Penn High School property to its master plan for the neighborhood. Current plans call for athletic facilities on the school site as Temple continues to grow south along Broad St. toward Center City. Temple also seeks planners' blessing on its new library at the college center (instead of an earlier Broad St. plan), and additions to the Engineering school and Weiss Hall.
- South Philly: Developer Phat Mot plans 113 housing units plus stores at 2401 Washington St., as the old industrial and construction-services neighborhood makes way for residential expansion from Center City. The Civic Design Review board has given a favorable review but it still needs rezoning, industrial to residential.
- A proposal by Councilman Squilla would exempt foot carts from zoning permit requirements "when operating on private property."
Plus neighborhood plans and rights-of-way rulings; see the agenda linked above.

Penn, Temple growth plans
Seattle made some significant additions over the winter -- headlined by 2014 Major League home run leader Nelson Cruz -- but the bulk of the squad consists of returning players from a team that went 87-75 last year and missed an American League Wild Card spot by one game.
Spring Training: Tickets | Ballpark | 40-man roster | Non-roster invitees
McClendon will greet 27 pitchers and seven catchers Friday, with the rest of the position players due by next Tuesday. The first day will consist of players taking physical exams before on-field activity begins Saturday.
"I'm very excited," McClendon said. "Going into Spring Training last year, I didn't know my personnel. I didn't even know faces. There were a lot of things we couldn't accomplish last spring that we'll be ahead of the game on this year, as far as putting in some things we'd like to from an offensive and defensive standpoint.
"I certainly think we're well adapted to do those things. We know the club, we know the talent that we have and we know their capabilities. So it should be a fun spring for us."
Outlook: Slugger Cruz moves to spacious Safeco Field
The defending home run champion Nelson Cruz could see his home run total decrease with the Mariners, but is still expected to hit 30 dingers
There's a different buzz going into this year's camp, with Seattle regarded as a prime contender in the AL West after improving by 16 wins in 2014, then adding some intriguing veterans in Cruz, left-hander J.A. Happ, outfielders Seth Smith and Justin Ruggiano and newly defined utility man Rickie Weeks.
"All in all, it was a very good winter," said general manager Jack Zduriencik. "We're excited to get into Spring Training."
