New addition progressing - June 30, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Patients at East Morgan County Hospital and their families will have much more space in their rooms after an addition is completed.

The new wing will add almost 50 percent to the size of EMCH with an extra 32,000 square feet and much of that space will go into patient rooms, said CEO Linda Thorpe during a tour of the most recent stage of the work.

"It's an exciting time for us," Thorpe said.

It has gotten to the "dry wall walk through" stage, when walls are up and people can get a sense of the layout of rooms, nursing stations and other aspects of the new facilities, she said. The public was invited to see the progress on the $20 million addition.

Banner Health chipped in $9.5 million for the project, and The EMCH District paid the rest. This project has been in planning for the past three to five years, Thorpe said.

The project adds 19 single-patient rooms, a brand-new kitchen and dining facility, and a new lobby and waiting area. Also, the hospital will gain more than 100 parking spaces, she said.

Patient rooms will have all the state-of-the-art technology for care, plus spacious bathrooms and closets to keep possessions. Each patient room will have an added 80 square feet of room, which offers more place for family and friends to visit. They will include couches for visitors to use.

Maple Ridge Leisure Centre reopens after evacuation - June 30, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

News posted Oct 22, 2011 at 8:00 PM

UPDATE Just after 1:00 pm an alarm in the Chlorine Room of the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre sounded alerting the pool staff that chlorine gas levels were above normal levels. The Chlorine Room is located on the outside of the building and isolated from the public areas of the Leisure Centre facility. Leisure Centre Staff immediately contacted the Maple Ridge Fire Department. As a precaution, staff conducted an orderly evacuation of the building allowing patrons to obtain personal belongings. The entire facility, including the pool, fitness centre and youth centre was completely cleared within 10 minutes. The Maple Ridge Fire Department arrived within a few minutes and followed Hazardous material (Hazmat) protocols around the Chlorine Room. In addition, Firefighters assisted staff in doing a final sweep of the entire facility to ensure that no one remained in the building. The preliminary assessment was that there was a minor leak in the Chlorine service conduit, and the Fire department, working with Leisure Centre staff, isolated the Chlorine system, purged the conduit and stayed on site until the gas levels Chlorine Room were zero. The automatic Chlorination system has been shut down and manual water testing and chlorination will be used until the main system has been examined by a technician early next week. At no time did the gas get into any public areas. At no time was there any health risk to patrons, first responders or District staff due to the fast implementation of all safety procedures and protocols. The Fire Department and District staff would like to thank all of the people that were in the facility at the time of the incident for their cooperation and understanding during the orderly evacuation. Patrons affected by the evacuation were given a complimentary pass for the facility. The facility has now reopened to the public.

The Green Room: Snakes And Ladders- A Look At The Championship Ladder Match - June 29, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the debut edition of The Green Room on Lordsofpain.net. My name is Leaf and I am the winner of the Voice competition that was contested in the Columns Forum earlier this year.

On that note, I strongly urge you to consider entering the latest competition: The LOP Grand Prix. This contest is purely for fun so if you wish to give column-writing a try, this is the perfect platform to do so. The rules for the contest can be found HERE. I will be one of five judges for the event so I will personally look forward to any new entrants wishing to take part.

Plugs aside, I think we are all set to enter The Green Room, a magical place in which we pull up a chair and thoroughly analyse a given topic. With a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion set to be crowned at WWE Money In The Bank this Sunday, I figured we would sit down with our eight championship contenders and play a very special game of the board-game Snakes and Ladders. I never thought that I would type that sentence.

With that being said, lets find out which of our eight men will slide down a slippery snake and which will have a chance to climb a ladder of greatness.

Im always wary of last-minute additions. The last minute addition of Kane tells me that he was never in line to win the match. This is a different situation than Dean Ambrose in the contract match as the other competitors for that match were announced on the same night that he was later inserted.

As seen during Smackdowns conclusion, the Big Red Machine truly has been added for storyline purposes. He assisted Randy Orton in climbing a ladder, proving that he will be aiding the Viper on Sunday. That is not a bad thing, it actually makes perfect booking sense. Triple H handed Orton a slot in the match, then Roman Reigns found his way in. To counteract that, the Game added The Big Red Monster. Kane is the necessary insurance policy.

The only possibility of Kane winning the match on Sunday would be if he went rogue. He is a monster after all. However, unless Orton defeats Kane for the championship between now and when Bryan returns, I dont see how an altered face vs. face match between Bryan and Kane would work considering their interactions throughout the Authority storyline. Wouldnt you just cut out the middle-man and have Orton win the match, rather than play out that scenario? The WWE wouldnt benefit from a sudden face turn and title reign for the 47-year old Glenn Jacobs.

I like the addition of Kane in this match. He is aligned with the Authority and he was previously set to be the #1 Contender for Bryans title. As demonstrated though, he wont be winning this match.

Maine West plans $9.3 million gym addition - June 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Article updated: 6/27/2014 9:35 AM

Maine Township High School District 207 officials are planning to build a $9.3 million addition to the existing spectator gym at Maine West High School in Des Plaines.

    George LeClaire | Staff Photographer

Maine Township High School District 207 is planning to build a $9.3 million, 23,000-square-foot addition to the existing gym at Maine West in Des Plaines that would include locker rooms, a weight room and wrestling room.

It would bring those athletic amenities out of the basement of Maine West's spectator gym. But it stops short of something many around Maine West have long sought, and something Maine East and Maine South already have: a field house.

Such a project would take up a larger footprint to make room for an indoor track, which is staying put for now in Maine West's basement. The biggest obstacle to making it a reality, district officials say, has been finding the money to pay for it.

"It's a thought," said Dave Beery, the district's spokesman. "The proposal here is to construct an expansion in such a way that if a (school) board at some future date wanted to add a field house, it could do so. It would work with this expansion. But the district does not have the financial resources to do a field house at this point."

At a meeting of the board's buildings and grounds committee in May, Maine West Athletic Director Jarett Kirshner asked committee members to consider the addition of a field house. Board member Sean Sullivan "expressed flexibility in having a field house" since all district facilities should be "comparable and equitable," according to meeting minutes.

A smaller-scale gym addition, as proposed, could be funded without borrowing or raising taxes through the district's budgeted 10-year capital improvement plan. In its second year, the plan has focused on upgrades to each of the district's schools, including window replacements, roof repairs and improvements to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems.

The Maine West gym addition would be one of the largest and most expensive projects in the 10-year plan -- and the only one involving new construction, Beery said.

The East Hampton Library Celebrates Opening of New Childrens Addition with Alec Baldwin - June 26, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

East Hampton, NY (PRWEB) June 25, 2014

The East Hampton Library hosted a Grand Opening Celebration for their New Childrens Addition on Saturday, June 21. More than 500 people were in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony, including actor Alec Baldwin (with wife Hilaria and daughter Carmen). Baldwin donated $1.275 million to the East Hampton Library for the construction of the addition, which features the state of the art Baldwin Family Lecture Room on its lower floor.

The opening ceremony was held on the Library grounds, followed by a ribbon cutting, tours of the New Addition, refreshments, and entertainment for children. The ceremony featured speeches by the Librarys Board of Managers; special proclamations from elected public officials; the announcement of the winning entries in the Librarys writing and drawing contest; the placement of special items into a time capsule; and music by the East Hampton Middle Schools all-girl chorus, The Bonnettes.

ABOUT THE NEW CHILDRENS ADDITION The New Childrens Addition at the East Hampton Library adds 6,800 square-feet to the existing Library. Constructed by Ben Krupinski Builder, the addition was designed by noted architect Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), and features a Childrens Reading Room on the main floor, with interior design and environmental graphics by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership (LHS+DP).

For children, the expansive new main floor space (approximately 4,000 square-feet) allows for the addition of 10,000 more childrens books, new computers and technology, ample seating, dedicated areas for toddlers and teens, and other age-appropriate improvements. The whimsical interior design and graphics are informed by the historic architecture of the existing building and the nautical heritage of the surrounding seaside community. Interpretive design elements by LHS+DP include tall, blinking lighthouses, a large windmill with shelves and seating, and a boat-shaped Librarians information desk. As with the Librarys 1997 addition, the architectural style of the new addition by RAMSA blends seamlessly with the original structure.

The high-ceilinged lower level floor features the state-of-the-art Baldwin Family Lecture Room, providing space for community programs, meetings, film screenings, readings, lectures, and book events. A partnership with the New York Public Library will allow for live streaming of that institutions programs, as well as others from around the world. The spacious lower level gallery-style lobby features lit wall exhibition space for art displays, leading to the Librarys new book sale and storage room.

The addition has allowed for other improvements in the Librarys existing spaces including painting, new carpets, new DVD and CD shelving and updates to the HVAC system. The installation of the new second elevator now makes the entire Library handicapped accessible. Sixteen new parking spaces have also been added to the Librarys parking area and beautiful new landscaping features, including a charming childrens secret garden with imaginative topiary plantings, designed and installed by Marders, add to the smoothly unified integration of the new and existing spaces.
