In recognition of his positive contributions to the local economy, Rodney Petrick, owner and CFO of Ridgeworth Roofing Company, has been honored in the Daily Herald Business Ledgers third annual CFO of the Year Awards program. The recognition ceremony for the award was held on July 22 at the Stonegate Banquet and Conference Center in Hoffman Estates.
The CFO of the Year Award recognizes local financial executives who contribute to the success of suburban Chicagos economic growth and stability by leading the fiscal growth of their company. Honorees are nominated by peers and judged by the Daily Herald Business Ledger editorial staff.
One of twelve 2014 honorees, Petrick was recognized for more than doubling Ridgeworth Roofings overall revenue over the last decade, along with his commitment to good ethics, effective reporting, and his involvement in the local community. Petrick is an active member of several industry associations and organizations and recently received the Midwest Roofing Contractors Associations James Q. McCawley Award for outstanding dedication to the roofing industry. Under his leadership, Ridgeworth Roofing has contributed to several charitable roofing projects in recent years, providing labor and materials to install new roofing systems for non-profit organizations in the Chicagoland area.
I was surprised and honored to be considered with the other honorees, said Petrick, who was presented with the award at the recognition ceremony. It shows that hard work and keeping your nose to the grindstone pays off. I thought everybody there should be recognized because in the past six years weve all been able to navigate our businesses through one of the most difficult economic times in history. We were all able to take advantage of opportunities and grow our businesses.
Petrick and his fellow honorees will be featured in a supplement in the August 18th issue of the Daily Herald Business Ledger.

Highland Roofing Co. said Tuesday it has acquired what is perhaps Wilmington's oldest continually operated family-owned business.
Wilmington-based Highland Roofing acquired Hanover Iron Works, 1851 Dawson St., in what it called a strategic deal designed to grow the companies' commercial roofing market share.
With the acquisition, Highland Roofing expects revenues to approach or exceed $10 million in 2015, said Iain Fergusson, the company's owner.
Highland Roofing was incorporated in October 2005 and is based at 4310 Deer Creek Lane, where it is adding to and improving its 9,000-square-foot building and yard to accommodate the growth.
Hanover Iron Works, however, was founded April 3, 1903, at the foot of Market Street and started as a sheet metal shop, said Horace T. "Tommy" King III, the last of his family to own the company.
"There are businesses older than ours, but whether they stayed in the same family over that period, I don't know," he said Tuesday.
The business was started on Water Street by Tommy King's great-grandfather.
Tommy's father, Horace T. King Sr., ran the company from 1941 until he retired in the late 1980s.
Tommy King said he came to work at the business in 1973.
