North Versailles couple faults construction company for damage to property - April 1, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

A North Versailles couple contends that a company Allegheny County hired for a bridge-replacement project caused a retaining wall and garage roof at their home to buckle, damaged the water vault and left behind other problems.

The $20.5 million Greensburg Pike Bridge Replacement Project included constructing a 663-foot steel girder bridge and relocating utilities. The yearlong project was finished in November.

Leo and Peggy Love say Brayman Construction Corp. of Saxonburg caused the damage to their First Street home near the intersection with Greensburg Pike.

They haven't done nothing to respond to the complaints about the damage, said Peggy Love, 73.

The company did not return calls for comment.

Family friend Vicki LaMarca, 56, of Penn in Westmoreland County, sent a letter about the damage to the county's public works department in December.

(The Loves) don't have much everything is falling on deaf ears, she said.

The public works department maintains the Loves never filed an official claim for damages, but the department and Brayman have been working with the couple and LaMarca to address issues related to their water meter and water vault, Public Works Director Steve Shanley said this week through county spokeswoman Amie Downs.

The party responsible for the damage will be determined if or when a claim is filed, Downs said.

The Loves say Brayman's drilling caused a retaining wall to buckle beside the garage. They allege the company cut off a drainage pipe from the garage that led to a street storm drain, and the resulting water buildup on the roof caused the garage ceiling and a wall to buckle.

Retaining Walls – Pittsburgh Landscaping Contractor … - March 30, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

Our landscaping services do more than simple tree pruning and grass cutting, our expert Pittsburgh landscape contractors are well versed in the construction of retaining walls and retaining wall repair. The rolling hills of Pittsburgh landscapes can sometimes cause unsafe elevation changes. Using a retaining wall can help to unify your landscape and add important, beautiful architecture to your backyard. Retaining wall construction can take the form of stone walls, sitting walls and brick walls. While each option has different benefits and aesthetics, our qualified Pittsburgh landscape contractors will help you decide which form and materials will work best for your yard. Always ensure you work with qualified and experienced retaining wall contractors and landscaping contractors that understand the unique challenges of Pittsburgh landscaping when considering retaining wall building projects.

Many retaining walls can be built to complement your existing brick patio, stone patio or patio made with patio pavers or specialized patio bricks. Using wall blocks, paving stones, omni stone, stone pavers and versa-lok will help your Pittsburgh landscape become more versatile. Retaining walls can also help section off parts of your garden or outdoor living spaces.

Our Retaining wall builders do advise against railroad tie retaining wall construction, as its uneven building methods can cause it to break down over time. Stone wall construction, brick walls, and using retaining wall blocks are all proven methods of making elevation changes safer and adding high quality, long lasting architectural elements to your Pittsburgh landscape. If your current retaining walls require repair, we can also create a retaining wall repair solution that will help keep your landscape beautiful and functional for longer.
