ENID, Okla. A bid for the renovation of the Garfield County Safety Building is expected to be considered by the Board of Garfield County Commissioners this morning.

Five bids for remodeling work in the facility, located at 216 W. Oxford in Enid, were accepted by the commissioners during a meeting on April 21.

At that time, District 3 Commissioner James Simunek said the commissioners were proposing light remodeling of a portion of the building and some mechanical and electrical work needed in the facility.

The lowest base bid was $214,511, but there was some question about the bid because another bid of $235,000 was included with the lowest bid.

The intended price was going to be confirmed with the bidder, Luckinbill Mechanical Contractors.

Henson Construction bid the second lowest bid, for $226,212. Bids went up to $321,000.

Bidders provided a base bid for the remodeling and added alternate bids for replacing exterior pole lights, replacing exterior wall sconces, installing emergency power service and installing a new generator.

Depending on cost, the building which was given to the county may house some of the sheriffs office and possibly a highway superintendent, according to Simunek.

Other items on the meeting agenda include:

Consideration of road crossing applications from Crescent Services, Plymouth Gas (Rite Way Construction), Select Energy, Atlas Pipeline, Devon Energy, SPS and Chaparral Energy.
