Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Rotted floorboards, porches falling off their foundations, bug and rodent infestations -- those are just some of the reasons three homes on Binghamton's south side are now condemned.
Neighbors on Vine St. said it is a lot quieter after three multi-family homes were condemned in the last two months.
"There's a variety of code violations ranging from structural issues, entrance and egress issues, very serious code violations," said City of Binghamton Mayor Rich David.
City of Binghamton Code Enforcement did multiple inspections of each property and alerted the landlords of the issues. The issues remained, and each property went to the City of Binghamton Court where the homes were declared condemned.
The three homes are: 4 and 6 Vine St., 8 Vine St. and 13 Vine St.
The building at 4 and 6 Vine St. is an apartment with four units, according to the city. At least two were occupied when the home was condemned.
On the list of 18 violations, the biggest and most dangerous issues are: one of the apartments hadn't had heat since March 2014 and another was without electricity. The floorboards were rotting and porches were deemed unsafe.
This building was condemned on September 5, 2014, and tenants had 72 hours to vacate the building. The landlords, Porfino R. Rodriguez and Tracy Rodriguez of Saddle River, NJ, were notified of the violations and closure of the building.
It was a similar story next door at 8 Vine St., but a big difference is something you can't miss: overgrown vines that completely cover one side of the house.

Small groups of neighbors and community members gathered in front of homes on Hanna Street Sept. 20, as bands of all types played from the front porches in one Gilroyshistoric neighborhoods.
Organizers Carol DeSantis, Barbara Bottini and Eileen Cuevas said they hope the event, known as Porchfest Gilroy, will become an annual tradition to bring the community together and provide bands and singers with opportunities to showcase their talents. This years festivities, inspired by similar events around the country, included 20 acts performing on 12 porcheson the block.
The trio didnt have a specific number of attendees they hoped to see at the event, Bottini said, nor were they keeping track Saturday. In fact, they were hoping the event would stay relatively small during the first year. Bottini added, however, So far I am very pleased with the turnout.
I really like it, 15-year-old Colette Howard said. It is really hard to find things like this Gilroy.
Howard was seated alongside her sister, Shea, in front of their house as local band, the Usuals, played from their porch. The sisters were selling bottled water and cookies to raise money to send Shea to a girls leadership camp in New York City. Both girls said they admiredthe performers.
I think it is a good opportunity for aspiring musicians, Shea said. I wouldnt mind (participatingin the future).
Moriah Silva, a member of The Usuals, was performing alongside Brian Freimurth and said she was excited to have the opportunity to entertain a local audience. Some familiar faces in the crowd included her singing coach, Kris Ellis.
I like how we all get to come out as a community, Silva, a junior at Sobrato High School, said. I cant wait for this to become a popular thing.
Freimurth agreed.
Its a lot of fun. I think an idea like this has a lot of potential,he said.

A gun-toting pastor in Texas caught a grandmother stealing packages from the porches of Baytown residents last week.
Pastor Benny Holmes was captured on video charging through his front door wielding a pistol and pointing it at the suspect, Laurie Ferguson, 52, according to the Baytown Police Department.
"He was at his wits end," said Holmes' wife, Pat, to ABC 13 News. "He was determined in his mind that he would sit here, however long it took, to see if he could find her."
Ferguson initially denied that she was stealing when first confronted by Holmes.
"She said, 'I'm looking for my dog,'" Pat recalled, adding that her husband then told Ferguson, "You found your dog. Bow wow."
Police arrived on the scene while Holmes held Ferguson at gunpoint. Investigators believe Ferguson is the same woman caught on surveillance video driving a red Ford Fiesta taking packages from the Holmes' porch two previous times. Two children also appear in the videos who are said to be her grandchildren.
"I learned they had retrieved quite a few packages from her house," Pat added.
Police also stated that Ferguson stored several stolen items inside her home that were taken from neighbors' houses. One of the items included a pastor's robe that was delivered to the Holmes' residence in June.
Pat Holmes plans to address Ferguson face-to-face one day and created a custom hat for her that reads "Forgiven."

A pistol-packing pastor helped catch a grandmother last week who police say has been stealing dozens of packages from the front porches of homes in a Texas town, KTRK reported.
Pastor Benny Holmes was, to hear his wife Pat tell it, at his wits end after packages delivered to his Baytown home kept disappearing.
"He was determined in his mind that he would sit here, however long it took, to see if he could find her," Pat Holmes told the station.
His determination paid off when he apparently caught the thief on yet another trip to allegedly steal packages.
Pastor Holmes sprang into action, and when police arrived at the scene he was holding Laurie Ferguson, 52, at gunpoint.
Police said Ferguson had several stolen items in her home that were taken during similar incidents in the neighborhood. Ferguson apparently was also in possession of a pastor's robe that was delivered to the Holmes home in June.
The Baytown Police Department is asking anyone in the area who had packages missing to call 281-422-8371 to see if their missing merchandise has been recovered.
