As part of a Charlotte area plumber's initiative to help the public to take water quality seriously, ER Plumbing Services gave away a whole house filtration system on January blank to Amy Johnson of Charlotte, NC.
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) January 26, 2013
Quote from Amy: Here's my pic with the kids and the filter. We are already loving it! Filling water bottles before school each morning goes so much faster now that I can use the sink rather than our slow refrigerator water. 🙂
"We've also noticed the water feels different in the shower/baths. So happy that we won! Thank you so much for doing these fabulous giveaways!
"I also wanted to say that your technician was fantastic. He even found my broom and swept up the floor even after I told him it wasn't necessary. And he offered to help put stuff back in the storage room too.
In the past, ER Plumbing Services has given away an iPad and a tankless water heater. This giveaway helped to bring awareness to water quality while also treating the Charlotte area with a chance to win something that will help their family. A whole house water filtration system is a great way to eliminate harmful chemicals and contaminants in the water for drinking and for bathing.
A Charlotte based plumber, ER Plumbing Services, is dedicated to educating the public about plumbing tips and advice. A hot topic lately with many in the area is concerning water quality from the municipal water supply. Many area residents are concerned with the safety of the water. Is it safe to drink or cook with? Is it safe for us to bathe in? ER Plumbing Services strives to help answer these questions on their blog. They are urging everyone to become educated on water quality in their home. ER Plumbing Services also offers advice on what can be done to deal with poor water quality.
As one of the top plumbers in the Charlotte area, they have been researching water quality. Contaminants can be found in water all over the country. These include things like chlorine, bromine, chloramines, iron and sediment. Drinking and cooking with water with these contaminants can cause harm to your health. Some of these contaminants are considered carcinogens. A carcinogen is something known to cause cancer. President Obamas Anti-Cancer Panel recommends filtering tap water to reduce these risks of illness and cancer.
Water quality is not something to take lightly. So many are now turning to drinking bottled water. Most bottled water is no better for consumers than drinking tap water. Sources for the bottle water range from the Detroit River to springs in France. Not only is most bottled water not any healthier for consumers, but it also has a high cost and produces waste. Recycling is on the rise, but there are still countless amounts of energy and resources used in bottling water.
The best advice ER Plumbing Services wants to pass along is to reduce waste and improve health by using a whole house water filtration system. This reduces the amount of contaminants that the body is exposed to in the digestive system as well as through the skin. It can also cut down on wear and tear in appliances like the dishwasher or washing machine since it reduces the amount of build up associated with minerals in the water. Using reusable water bottles with a whole house water filtration system will also reduce the waste associated with bottled water.

Toledo-area political personality Samuel 'Joe the Plumber' Wurzelbacher is expecting a new baby next month and launching a new political website next week.
Wurzelbacher, who lost his GOP bid for Congress to longtime Toledo Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur, has been sending out messages on Twitter that urge his followers to check out his new "Joe for America" website.
In an interview on Wednesday, Wurzelbacher said his new website is a joint effort between him and the Liberty Alliance. Its purpose is to encourage Americans to focus on the nation's problems rather than the symptoms of those problems.
"When you hire a plumber because no hot water is coming out of the kitchen sink faucet, you need to go to the water heater, not the faucet," he explained, adding that the website is still being "tweaked" and will officially launch next week.
He said the website will have "several full-time writers that want to share their thoughts," and that he expects to write once a week and post regular video monologs.
"My wife and son and I are very much looking forward to it," Wurzelbacher said of the new baby.
Wurzelbacher says he has "no plans, at this point" to seek public office again, and that the launch of his new website "just means I love America and I love what America stands for. and I want people to get involved."
"Yes, I am conservative, but that being said, the Second Amendment issue right now goes beyond party politics," Wurzelbacher said, describing recent visits to gun shows where he met people of all political views who found common ground in their agreement on the rights of gun owners.
"There is common ground we can look towards and hopefully make this counry better for all of us," Wurzelbacher said. "That is what Joe for America means. I want more jobs. I want veterans to have better benefits and not have them taken away. I want people to succeed in this country and have the tools to do so."

Life isnt easy for Perry Origer.
Hes homeless. He gathers cans at night to recycle for money along with the rest of Mantecas homeless population. Hes constantly trying to protect his belongings from thieves.
And yet despite all of that, you wont hear Origer complaining much about his lot in life.
On the contrary.
The Manteca native who spends his days along with others in Library Park, or places nearby says that he has it better than most because of connections that he has in the community that occasionally earns him a shower or lands him on a couch when the temperature plummets.
Its not exactly the life that the one-time plumber had hoped for at age 50. He has been homeless on and off for the better part of a decade, but he knows that things could be far worse.
Im lucky that I know people and have friends because a lot of these people dont have a place to stay, he said. In the winter, when its cold, if you dont know people its really hard to find somewhere to go.
Those connections, however, dont erase the difficulty of being homeless.
After the Manteca City Council passed an ordinance that effectively outlawed panhandling at intersections in the community, finding ways to earn money became even more difficult for the often overlooked community of homeless males. He is unable to turn to the HOPE Family Shelter or the single-mom oriented Raymus House.
That presented only two options: either find a way to get to the shelters in Stockton or start scrounging for recyclables at night in order to make enough money to buy something to eat the following day.

Q: I plan on remodeling my kitchen. One feature planned is a small prep sink for my small kitchen island. I only need cold water to this sink and because of the tight area a large faucet will not fit. Any ideas on a faucet I can use? All I have seen are standard kitchen faucets. -- Tracy, Rhode Island
A: I know just the faucet that may work for you. In fact, I have one in my own kitchen. It's called a beverage faucet and it can add convenience, style and a special feature to your prep sink.
First, it only uses a cold-water line, so it's a little easier to rough in and install. Second, it is smaller than a standard kitchen faucet. Finally, most models have a filter-option feature, so you can have a dedicated drinking faucet in your kitchen.
Note: This is not a "tap"-type water dispenser. A beverage faucet looks and works like a mini-gooseneck faucet and it can even match your larger kitchen-faucet style. All in all, I'll call that a "small" faucet with a "big" payback for your new kitchen!
