BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) A plumber is facing accusations he used his trade to steal from a local home.

Police said Robert Giammarco, 25, of Lincoln, came out of the woods, smashed a window on a home on Lantern Lane in Barrington, then entered the house and took what he could. He had done some plumbing work in the home months earlier.

Officials say Gimmarco was selling the stolen goods at a pawn shop called Lost Treasure Coin and Jewelry.

The shop's owner claims he had no idea that the items were stolen.

Police say Gimmarco also sold some of the items at a cart in the Emerald Square Mall, and that they're concerned there could be more victims.

It is very important is someone has had breaks in their house to contact Detective Ben Ferreira, said Chief LaCross of the Barrington Police Department.

Gimmarco was also charged back in October by Johnston Police with breaking and entering at nighttime.

Plumber accused of robbing past clients

NEWTON (CBS) Fire investigators are looking into whether a plumbers equipment started a fire that destroyed four apartments in Newton and left four families homeless.

He was doing some plumbing in one of the bathrooms, says Assistant Fire Chief Paul Chagnon.

A mother and toddler made it out uninjured, but that plumber went to the hospital with burns on his hand.

The assistant chief says the plumber may have hurt himself trying to put the fire out. Officials say it started in a wall and sent smoke through the eves, eventually spilling out over the neighborhood.

It happened on the heavily traveled Charles Bank Road, which is a major cut-through linking Nonantum Road to a Mass Pike on-ramp.

The road was shut down for hours, but firefighters were able to clear out and open the road by evening rush hour.

The Red Cross has stepped in to help the displaced families. They are currently providing two families with temporary housing as well as funds for food and baby supplies.

The remaining displaced residents have a place to stay.
