Plumber strangles 78-year-old in Bangalore - April 25, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    TNN Apr 23, 2013, 02.36AM IST

BANGALORE: A plumber allegedly strangulated three elderly sisters, one of them with fatal consequences, at their residence on 27th Cross, VII Block, Jayanagar, on Monday morning.

The siblings knew plumber Ramachandra, a resident of Parappana Agrahara village, for years. He regularly did odd jobs for them.

Ramachandra fled with gold jewellery he had snatched from the women.

The dead woman was identified as Chandra Narasimhan, 78. The sisters who survived the attack are Munilakshmamma, 88, and Sharadha, 79.

Chandra's elder daughter, Chitra Narasimhan, a paediatrician with Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences Research, who lives in the house with her mother, had gone to work at the time of the incident.

Based on the survivors' accounts, police identified the assailant as Ramachandra. Unconfirmed reports said the plumber is an alcoholic.

Ramachandra had been commissioned 10 days ago to fix a leak.

Chitra left for work as usual around 10 am, by which time Ramachandra had started working on the roof. Around 1.15pm, Chitra got a call from her aunt Munilakshmamma saying the plumber had attacked them and killed her mother.

Munilakshmamma was still in shock when police arrived. She narrated the sequence of events. She said Ramachandra had worked in the house for 10 days and the sisters never suspected him.

Plumber had an accomplice: police - April 24, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

A day after the murder of a senior citizen in Jayanagar, the police have found that two people were involved in the crime. A special team has been dispatched to Tamil Nadu to track down the main accused, Ramachandra, the plumber.

A senior official involved in the investigation informed that at first it was believed that Ramachandra had acted alone.

However, it has emerged that a second man, Vasanth, was involved after the forensics team found two separate sets of fingerprints at the crime scene.

On Monday morning, Ramachandra, who was working in the house of the victim, Chandra Narasimha (78), enticed her older sisters, Munilakshamma (88) and Sharada (79) to the terrace on the pretext of repairing some pipe in their room upstairs.

Investigators suspect that Vasanth must have then entered the room on the ground floor, where later he was confronted by the victim.

In the ensuing attack, all the sisters were attacked and robbed of their jewellery and the house ransacked. The frail Chandra didnt survive the assault.

On Monday itself the police had taken into custody for questioning a close relative of Ramachandra and then had gone to the plumbers house. However, he had fled by then. A team has been sent to his native village in Tamil Nadu but the police refused to name the place.

Plumber 24 Hours Explains Carbon Monoxide Dangers - April 24, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

The specialists at Plumber 24 Hours have responded to warnings from fire fighters in Camborne over an incident of carbon monoxide poisoning, with advice over the dangers it poses.

    (PRWEB UK) 23 April 2013

Audible carbon monoxide alarms can be bought for around 15 from supermarkets and DIY stores and are easy to fit.

Celebrated for their Burgh Heath plumbers, Plumber 24 Hours operates throughout the country, also specialising in gas safety. Naturally the team were pleased to hear that the fire fighters are working to promote awareness of the deadly substances. A representative from the firm shares their thoughts on the matter.

Carbon monoxide is a highly poisonous substance that is the result of the incomplete burning of gas and liquid petroleum gas and can occur when a gas appliance has been incorrectly fitted, badly repaired or maintained.

When breathed in it enters the blood stream, preventing the red blood cells from carrying oxygen which is why it is so important to only ever let a fully qualified engineer carry out work on your appliances. These should be checked annually as even low levels over a long period of time can lead to paralysis and brain damage. It is also worth familiarising yourself with the symptoms of carbon monoxide in order to prevent a situation from worsening.

Plumber 24 Hours Responds to Carbon Monoxide Probe - April 24, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

The specialists at Plumber 24 Hours have shared their thoughts on the news that a man has been found dead at his South Shore home after suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

    (PRWEB UK) 24 April 2013

Well known for their Nottingham emergency plumbers, Plumber 24 Hours operates throughout the country, also specialising in gas safety. The company places a significant emphasis on the safety of gas boilers and other appliances within the home and are more than aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide. A representative from the firm shares their thoughts on the matter.

This story really highlights the dangers of carbon monoxide. Even after a fire has burned out, carbon monoxide may still be present. It can kill almost instantly as well as causing long term health problems such as brain damage. Because it is odourless and tasteless it becomes more of a threat but there are ways to spot if you might be in danger. Increased condensation around windows, pilot lights that frequently blow out as well as dark staining on or around appliances are also warning signs.

It is also important to make sure all gas appliances such as ovens and boilers are checked annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
