Emergency Plumber Responds to Coventry Winning Tastiest Water Award - May 4, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB UK) 3 May 2013

It has been reported in The Independent that water was tasted from 10 locations across the UK, including Bristol, Suffolk, Glasgow and Lancashire. Samples were all taken on the same day and kept in the same bottles, with Coventry accumulating the highest mark from the judges. Celebrated for its clean light smell and slightly salty taste, Ms Dulai explained that water is defined as being hard or soft by the minerals it contains, including calcium and magnesium.

Renowned for their London emergency plumbers, Emergency Plumber also operates throughout the country dealing with a vast range of plumbing and water issues. As such, the team have a natural interest in all aspects of the industry. A representative shares their thoughts on the different aspects that can play a role in the taste of drinking water.

Whilst our water is of high quality, it is not uncommon to notice a change in taste or odour. It might be worth checking with your neighbours to see if theyve experienced something similar. These unfamiliar tastes can be caused by plumbing work, for example bitter or metallic tastes from new copper pipe work or rubbery tastes from tap washers.

It is important to ensure however that you only ever drink or cook with water from the kitchen tap. Water from the hot water system or bathroom taps is not as fresh or as safe. Incorrectly plumbing in a dishwasher or washing machine where the supply pipe connects with your kitchen sink can also lead to problems with drinking water. Those who are concerned there may be a problem should contact a team of fully qualified plumbers.

Emergency plumber is an agency run by Martin Smith. With 18 years experience in the industry, his aim is to provide fast and efficient emergency plumbing engineers 24/7. The company operates within a wide range of areas in the UK including London, Plymouth, Reading, Coventry, Bolton and Newcastle. With a database of over 300 emergency plumbers, the firm is currently the fastest growing plumbing company in the UK. Customers can also contact the team for information and advice on gas related problems.

Emergency Plumber Explores the Effects of Plumbing on Water Taste - May 2, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB UK) 2 May 2013

The BBC recently discussed how each year a slew of US localities fight over who has the tastiest tap water. Whilst the topic has not reached quite the same level of coverage here in the UK, there is still a definite divide in water preference. Whilst our tap water is amongst the most highly regulated in Europe, this does not cover taste. In the article, Dr Andrea Dietrich, a professor and water tasting expert from Virginia Tech explains that sense, taste and smell and vision and hearing have a normal range, but there can be a hundred-fold between the ability of people to discern a taste or odour- its not uncommon.

Renowned for their London emergency plumbers, Emergency Plumber also operates throughout the country and the team deal with a variety of plumbing and water issues. Naturally the latest news caught their attention and a representative has explained some of the reasons behind a change in water taste.

There are a number of reasons you may have noticed a change in water taste. Moving home is a common cause, due to a different water supply, as well as changes to your plumbing. If youve recently had plumbing work carried out you may encounter a number of strange tastes, such as metallic or bitter tastes from new copper pipe work or a rubbery taste from tap washers. It is possible to check whether the taste or odour you are experiencing is connected to your washing machine or dishwasher by turning off the valves which control the water flow, running the tap used for drinking water to clear the pipes and then tasting the water.

"Those concerned they may have problems with their plumbing would be well advised to contact a team of fully qualified and registered engineers such as those provided by Emergency Plumber.

Emergency Plumber Responds to 200% Rise in Water Bills - May 1, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB UK) 30 April 2013

It has been reported in the Mirror that the average bill in England has risen from 129 to 388. Even with inflation taken into account, there is still an increase of 50%. The study, undertaken by think tank the New Policy Institute, demonstrated that some 30% of the average water bill (which equates to more than 100 per year) is profit. Trade body, Water UK explains that since the industry was privatised, 108 billion has been invested into improving water and sewerage

A spokesman has claimed that All this investment has to be paid for, and the scale of the investment has meant bills have risen.

However, in the current economic climate this is of little comfort to homeowners. Renowned for their London emergency plumbers, the team behind Emergency Plumber have been heavily involved within the plumbing industry for a number of years. A representative has shared their thoughts on the recent news.

Whilst its encouraging to hear that money has been invested in plumbing and sewage systems, sometimes these benefits arent too apparent to a number of people and it also means that the average family is faced with bills they cannot always afford.

However, there are ways people can preserve water and so bring down their water bills. One essential tip is to regularly check for leaking taps and pipes. It is estimated that as much as 3,0000 gallons of water a year can be saved by checking for leaks. If you think you may have a problem, be sure to contact a fully qualified plumber as soon as possible. Taking showers rather than baths and making sure the washing machine is full before you run a cycle can also help conserve water.

Plumber Runs Into Two Burning Homes Looking For Trapped Residents - May 1, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) A plumber jumped into action Tuesday, running into two burning homes to check for people trapped inside before firefighters could arrive.

Richard Harris was repairing a problem at a home on Portugal Way when he saw flames in the house next door. He ran to alert the family inside.

Id seen the side of the house on fire, I banged on their door, grabbed the hose, Harris said. I tried to put out the flames, but it was a garden hose.

He helped get people out of this house, but had no luck putting the flames out. When he saw the second home catch fire, he leaped back into action. He kicked in the door and ran inside the burning building.

It was on fire pretty bad, Harris said. Honestly, I would just like somebody to run in my house if it were on fire and I was in there sleeping or unaware of what was going on.

Nobody was home, and Richard made it out safely. When the owners got home, they couldnt believe what Richard had done for them.

Firefighters say the wind played a huge factor in todays fight. At times, they even had to battle the blaze in a defensive move.

Because of how dangerous this fire became, Richard knows hes lucky he wasnt hurt, but says hed do it again.

At first, I was a little shaken, a little scared. But then I realized if Superman could do it, I could do it too.

The first home is a total loss and the damage is still being investigated at the second home. Firefighters are trying to determine a cause of the fire.

Plumber 24 Hours Responds to Gas Safety Management Survey - May 1, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB UK) 1 May 2013

It has been reported in HVP that the survey was filled out by those responsible for gas safety in housing associations across the UK. Carbon monoxide poisoning was a large feature of the study, with the 106 participants asked questions about the deadly substance. 88% claimed to have processes in place to deal with the occurrence of CO. 42% revealed they had not had to deal with any incidents of CO poisoning in the past 12 year. However, whilst the majority of respondents do have a system in place for installing CO alarms, a concerning 38% do not.

It was also revealed that a third of repairs and maintenance work is carried out by an internal workforce, compared with the two thirds that use an external force. The same is true for safety and service checks as well as installation work.

Renowned for their Carshalton emergency plumbers, Plumber 24 Hours also operates throughout the country, also specialising in gas safety advice. Having been heavily involved within the industry for a number of years, the team were naturally intrigued by the latest news. A representative shares their thoughts on the subject.

It is really positive to see that the majority of those surveyed have systems in place to deal with incidents involving carbon monoxide, however it is concerning to hear that as many as 38% do not have alarms in place. Because carbon monoxide is tasteless and odourless it really is essential to have an audible detector fitted.

What we also found extremely interesting was that so much installation, maintenance and repair work is being carried out by external forces. This may be due to higher reliability or faster response times.

Mr. Plumber Introduces Allie the Plumber's Apprentice - April 30, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) April 29, 2013

Mr. Plumber Plumbing Co., a San Antonio plumbing company that has served homeowners since 1977, is introducing a fresh voice and a fresh perspective to the plumbing world. The company is excited to announce Allie Perez, who is currently the Mr. Plumber Plumbing Co. operations and business manager, is blogging about her experiences as she works toward becoming a licensed Master Responsible Plumber.

Every day I worked I wanted to learn more about plumbing, said Perez. I started going out on calls with the plumbers and learning how to fix many of the issues found in my own home.

Perez is particularly interested in helping women feel comfortable when calling a plumber to their home. The plumbing trade has seen a demand for women plumbers lately. But, despite that demand, the field is still incredibly male-dominated. Less than 1% of plumbing professionals are female.

Customers feel safe with a female plumber as most of our customers in the plumbing industry are women, said Perez.

Perez is now blogging each week under the Allie the Plumbers Apprentice moniker. She covers a number of topics, including DIY tips, terminology for women and common problems seen in the home. Homeowners can follow along at http://www.mrplumbersa.com/blog.

Mr. Plumber Plumbing Co. is owned by the Sagray family has been serving plumbing needs in San Antonio for more than three decades. The company is headquartered at 7966 Mainland Dr Ste 1, San Antonio, Texas 78250. Visit its website at http://www.mrplumbersa.com.

Plumber 24 Hours Supports Anti-Scald Campaign - April 30, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB UK) 29 April 2013

It has been reported in HVP that the Hertfordshire based firm is attempting to raise awareness over the risk of scalding, providing advice on how households can minimise these risks. Whilst current building regulations state that all new homes in England and Wales should have devices fitted to baths, limiting water temperature to 48C, there are still millions of houses in the country at risk. Derek Aaronson, Company Director, explains that the cost of fitting a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) is a small one for potentially saving a life. He is urging all homeowners and landlords to invest in a TMV or shower fitting that conforms to British Standards and to ensure it is fitted by a qualified plumber.

With more than 2,000 children per year treated in hospital with life changing injuries as a result bathwater scalds, the team at Plumber 24 Hours were pleased to see new work being carried out to warn of the dangers. Renowned for their Middlesborough plumbers, the company also operates throughout the country and a representative has shared their feelings on the new campaign.

The impact of hot water scalding on a young child is really significant, with experts stating that a scald covering more than 20% of the body has the same impact as being hit by a bus. Whilst it is good to hear that all new houses being built are following stricter regulations regarding hot water, it is important for those in older homes to think seriously about installing a TMV to protect themselves and their family. Be sure to only ever enlist the help of a fully trusted and certified plumber.
