This Plumber Caught Dancing Must Really Like His Job - December 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    by Emilee Lindner 12/2/2014

There are a few things you can count on for pure joy: a laughing baby, a dog in a pile of tennis balls, and now, this plumber, who was caught dancing on the job.

As soon as his colleague heard the EDM coming from the other room, he slowly peeked in to find the plumber groovin away, cigarette clenched firmly in his mouth. He spins, twirls and boogies, but when he realizes hes being taped, he breaks out into adorable laughter. You go, dancing plumber. May you be memed until the end of time.

The Scottish plumber, whose name is Mark Topen, told the Evening Telegraph that he doesnt usually dance on the job because he doesnt want to be disrespectful, but the house was empty, so he went for it.

Ill admit that it was a bit embarrassing at first but I suppose that is what is funny about it and I can see that now, the 52-year-old plumber said. Sometimes the job can be stressful, so its good to take the pressure off if you can.

Oh, and if you had your doubts about dancing plumbers, apparently, its a thing. Thankfully, a real-life plumber took to the comments of the video to confirm that, well, plumbers just need to bust a move sometimes:

As a plumber I can confirm that taking a brief dancing break is one of the best ways to get the circulation going to the extremities after an hour or two of kneeling in some awkward position or other, which is pretty much unavoidable when installing radiators, as this guy was, said YouTube commenter Paul Mackilligin. Its a job which is very hard on the knees, as my orthopaedic surgeon will confirm.

    Now you know.

Olly Murs pays himself plumber's wage - December 2, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Olly Murs pays himself a plumber's wage.

The 'Wrapped Up' singer is worth an estimated 5 million but pays himself the same salary as his pals after being scared by bankrupt pop stars on the reality television show 'The Big Reunion'.

He explained: "I've given myself a salary recently, because I think it's important. For the first two years I was like, 'Yeah I'll buy that and this. Mum, what do you want? I'll get it for you.'

"But then you watch shows like 'The Big Reunion' and it opens your eyes to realise that this can all go so quickly, and you've got to be wise with your money."

The 30-year-old star elaborated by saying he's thrilled with his life at the moment, so is terrified of losing his treasured possessions and friends.

He said: "My worst fear is losing everything. I've bought my own house, I've got a lovely car, I've got brilliant friends and family. If I lost all that it would be devastating and down to my stupidity."

Olly wants to ensure he stays down to earth and remains close to his friends who he met before finding fame, so hopes his salary will stop him from flashing his cash.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I've got mates in different jobs to me, and they're not on the same amount of money as me. So I don't want to be like a big time Charlie. I've never been that kind of person, I always like us all to be on an equal playing field."

Dancing Dundee plumber taps into net fame - December 2, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A Dundee plumber has become an internet sensation in less than a week after a video of him dancing was viewed over NINE MILLION times.

Mark Topen, 52, who is more commonly known as Toby, is a self-employed plumber who had taken a few minutes out of his day only to be caught by one of his colleagues dancing to a well-known Robert Miles track.

Since the video was put online on Thursday, it has been picked up by sites including The Lad Bible where over nine million people have seen it.

Ill admit that it was a bit embarrassing at first but I suppose that is what is funny about it and I can see that now, he said.

Its not something I would do all the time because it can be disrespectful to do it in peoples homes but this house was empty.

I definitely think that it helps that I have a character where I can get away with it.

Sometimes the job can be stressful, so its good to take the pressure off if you can.

As well as views, the video has racked up nearly a quarter of a million likes and been shared over 42,000 times on Facebook.

This new-found celebrity status is something Toby thinks is just unbelievable.

He said: Its been amazing and I have received so many calls and texts from people telling me they have seen it online.

Essex plumber given unpaid work after certifying a dangerous boiler as safe - December 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Justice.

Will Lodge Monday, December 1, 2014 12:57 PM

A plumber must carried out 140 hours of unpaid work after carrying out illegal gas work at a home in Tiptree.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

Ryan Ellingford, of Grove Farm Road, Tolleshunt Major, checked a boiler, cooker and pipework at a rental property in Globe Walk and issued gas safety certificates despite not being registered with the Gas Safe Register.

Ellingford, 30, carried out the work trading as R J Plumbing & Heating, and also issued a safety certificate with a false registration number, Southend Magistrates Court heard on Friday.

A prosecutor for the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) told the court a later inspection of the work found the boiler was immediately dangerous and Ellingford was given a notice banning him from doing any more gas-related work while unregistered.

Ellingford was given 140 hours of community service and ordered to pay 339 costs after admitting two breaches of gas regulations.

Speaking after the case HSE inspector Corrine Godfrey said: People can die as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, and, by his negligence, Ryan Ellingford could have caused the illness or death of the prospective residents and neighbours of this property.

The purpose of the Gas Safe Register is to protect the public from gas work being carried out by people who have not been trained and are not competent.
