"Cut off foxs food supply so as to limit their numbers" is the message from Wandsworth Council.
A press release from the council, which says it does not deal with foxes, urges residents to put their rubbish bags in a bin with a lid so as to limit their food supply.
Deputy leader of the council and environment spokesman,Councillor Jonathan Cooksaid: "Foxes are now a common sight in London.
"While some people welcome them as an interesting addition to the capital's wildlife others view them as pests who cause a multitude of problems.
"The most humane and natural way to control the fox population is to limit their food supply. The less food there is for them to eat - the fewer there will be."
Baited cage traps, shooting, commercial animal repellents and snaring are just some of the other methods discussed within the release from Wandsworth Council on dealing with the "problem" of foxes, although a spokesman said it was not suggesting them, only discussing them.
The release said: "There are a number of commercial animal repellents available, but only those approved for use against foxes under the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 may be used.
"Although snaring is a legal method of fox control, it does pose risks for domestic animals. Snares must be visited at least once a day, but ideally more frequently to minimise the suffering of any animals caught.
"Shooting is not usually appropriate in urban areas, but where it is carried out, care must be taken to ensure the safety of the public and other wildlife.
"If a vixen is shot during the breeding season, the den has to be traced and the whole family of cubs humanely killed.

Combat Pest Control specialises in Commercial and Residential Pest Control using integrated pest management programmes.
Pest control is probably as old as agriculture, and although many techniques have changed over the years, it's definition as a whole remains the same. It refers to the handling and enforcement of another species that is believed to be hazardous to a person's health, property, or the environment.
Although ants, termites, cockroaches and other insects play an important role in the environment we live in, they are more than simply an annoying problem to take care of
sometime in the future.
Many household pests can cause significant damage to homes and even transmit illnesses and disease to humans in their contact. Perhaps the most important initial step to controlling infestations is to determine correctly what type of pest, or pests, you are dealing with. Doing this often requires fairly extensive knowledge of pest biology and habits. Since most of us either aren't willing to observe a pest long enough to identify it's species, and don't have the necessary knowledge to so, it's important to employ the assistance of a knowledgeable pest control service.
There are several ways for pests to enter your home. In every home or property there are trouble areas where certain pests gravitate, and these should be taken into account when faced with possible infestation. Knowing hot spots and taking measures to correct problems can help to prevent pests from taking up residence where they aren't wanted.
When there are tiny gaps between plumbing pipes and walls, mice, roaches and other pests can easily enter your home.
Garbage cans with no lid that are stored beneath the sink can attract flies, roaches, ants and rodents looking for food.
If food in pantries and storage areas, like the basements that isn't sealed properly are a magnet for pests like roaches and rodents.
If attics and crawl spaces aren't sealed correctly they can be access points for spiders and other pests.

The foundation of our commercial program, this nine step monthly non-food handling service incorporates an I.P.M. approach to deal with most crawling insects, like ants, spiders and crickets.
This monthly twelve step program for the food handling environment incorporates an Integrated Pest Management (I.P.M.) approach and focuses on the control of crawling insects, especially the German cockroach.
This eleven step monthly program is designed to control house and drain flies from the larval through adult stages.
Working hand-in-hand, the customer & technician impose a sanitation and monthly three step correction/prevention program to control this pest and reduce product loss due to infestation.
Exclusion is at the heart of any rodent control program, followed by trapping those who have already penetrated the structure. Our premier program also eradicates the feasting insects associated with rodents and sanitizes surfaces affected by rodent urination & defecation.
This four step program addresses removal of the existing bird population, installation of mechanical exclusion/control measures and sanitation.
Available as a special one-time annual service or a monthly control & monitoring program, this six step process is designed to attack the colony where it lives and suppress ant egg production to impact future generations.
This four step control program focuses on a 100 foot radius from the "bite site," searching for conditions conducive to mosquito breeding. It is designed to control mosquitoes from the larval through adult stages. Truly Nolen's goal is to reduce the customer's mosquito population by 75%.
Fleas or ticks in the workplace? The everyday workplace is becoming more pet friendly and these feasting pests can be introduced into your business during even a brief visit.

Since 1990, Colorado law has required management of non-native plants that threaten or disrupt the state's natural and agricultural resources.
The Colorado Noxious Weed Act, revised in 2003, establishes priority lists - A, B and C -- for weed control and enables county and city governments to manage noxious weeds through their own programs.
In Logan County, weed control dates back much farther than the state law. The Logan County Pest Control District is made up of five weed control district established as early as 1967, that consolidated in 1972.
Dave Appelhans, Pest District supervisor, said that while the consolidation "left some holes in the map," the district serves virtually all of Logan County. Cities and towns do not pay into the district, which is funded by a tax levy of 1 mil on properties in the district. The district also receives some state funding.
Purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) is a List A noxious weed that can be found in Logan County. List A species must be eradicated wherever they are found, according to Colorado law. (Noxious Weeds of Colorado/ / Colorado Weed Management Association)
The first, five-member advisory board for the district was tasked with controlling six weeds: Canada thistle, field bindweed, silver-leaf poverty weed, woolly leaf, poverty weed, and whitetop.
Today, the number of plants on the control list has grown, but many of the same weeds remain a problem. Among the known noxious weeds in Logan County are: field bindweed, Canada thistle, musk thistle, Russian knapweed, diffuse knapweed, spotted knapweed, skeletonleaf bursage or silverleaf povertyweed, woolly leaf bursage or woolly leaf povertyweed, whitetop or hoary cress, perennial pepperweed or tall whitetop, jointed goatgrass, leafy spurge, purple loosestrife or purple lythrum, and showy milkweed. Purple loosestrife is a List A plant, which means it is designated for elimination on all county, state, federal and private lands. List B plants, including Canada thistle, Russian knapweed, diffuse knapweed, spotted knapweed, perennial pepperweed, jointed goatgrass and leafy spurge, should be stopped from spreading. The plants on List C, such as field bindweed and puncturevine, are selected from recommended control methods.

Action Pest Control - Oxford & Memphis Home & Commercial ...
The California Department of Food and Agriculture detected the first incidence in the Bay Area of the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) Oct. 6. The pest causes a disease that kills citrus trees.
Much of the threat is to citrus trees in residential areas since much of California's citrus industry is located outside of the Bay Area, according to the CDFA.
As a result, the department is quarantining an area in Santa Clara County, where the pest was found earlier this month, according to a department news release and Steve Lyle, director, CDFA public affairs office.
"It's not just a commercial threat," Lyle said of the disease, which has no affect on humans.
"The disease is what we're really worried about," Lyle said.
Because the infested area is small, the CDFA is hoping to eliminate the pest rather than simply control its spread.
Lyle couldn't say how much citrus is grown by homeowners in the Bay Area, but anecdotally citrus grown in Bay Area yards is quite common, he said.
Joel Nelsen, president, California Citrus Mutual, a nonprofit citrus growers association, echoed Lyle's comments about the impact on homeowners in affected area. Nelsen said homeowners will be asked to help stop the spread of the pest before it infects trees.
The CDFA is asking residents of the quarantine area to avoid transporting citrus fruit or leaves, potted citrus trees and leaves of the curry tree from the quarantined area. The psyllids can infect citrus trees and related species such as curry trees.
Lyle said the disease has been detected only once in California. That was in Los Angeles County two years ago.
