Chino Hills and Brea, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2014
Rat and rodent infestations are common in house attics and crawlspaces in Southern California homes. These animals are unsanitary and carry diseases that are unhealthy for humans. These rodents also chew wiring and other materials causing significant damage if not eradicated immediately. This makes rat removal in Chino Hills and Brea important for home safety.
The damage from rodents can cause fires, create leaks in roofs and walls, as well as contaminate food goods in the pantry. Fires have been caused by rodents chewing on wire exposing the protective sheath meant to insulate the hot wire. Once the wire is exposed and flammable material comes in contact with the wire, it has the potential to ignite and catch fire.
Since often times rodents chew their way into a Brea or Chino Hills home, they leave a hole at their entry point. This hole now allows for future rats and mice to enter, along with the outside weather, including cold air and rain. These holes in the structure will need to be fixed with material that keeps out the rodents and the weather.
Rats and mice are known to frequent the food pantry leaving evidence behind. Because rats and mice defecate indiscriminately their feces are left inside of the food containers they gnaw into. It is recommended to throw away any food rats or other rodents have gained access to.
One of the most damaging materials rats and other rodents destroy in a home is the insulation. The animals nest inside of the insulation and use it as a bathroom. The attic insulation becomes less effective because of the urine saturating the insulation, which compresses it down. This compression leaves less air space, letting out more of the homes conditioned air.
The insulation absorbs the feces and urine creating an unsanitary attic space and overhead rodent toilet for the homeowner. Removal of rodent droppings from rats, mice, raccoon, opossums and other animals is recommended. This should be done by a professional company familiar with the proper safe techniques for this hazardous material.
In more extreme cases it is recommended to remove and replace the insulation. If the insulation is saturated with feces and urine the attic needs to be cleaned, sanitized, and the old hazardous insulation removed. The recommendation is that this be done by a company specializing in this type of removal. The insulation can be replaced with material that is less desirable to rodents and gives better than average insulation value to the home.
Rodent Guys Rat Extermination Services provides these services to Brea and Chino Hills, CA and perform home inspections to evaluate the level of infestation. Recommendations can then be given, which varies depending on the level of infestation and number of entry points rodents have access to.
Rodent Guys specializes in rat and other rodents and is licensed and insured. For more information about Rodent Guys Rat Control services go to http://www.rodentguys.com.

Stevenage Borough Council's offices in the town centre

Thousands of pest control issues and repairs have been dealt with by Stevenage Borough Council (SBC) over the past year, but do you think the local authority provides value for money?
To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.
In 2013, SBCs environmental health team carried out more than 3,000 visits for pest control issues including an infestation of cockroaches at the Maharajah Indian restaurant in Stevenage High Street.
Last year more than 28,000 repairs were carried out, from replacing roofs to fixing steps and paths.
The councils complaints and compliments team resolved more than 1,100 customer complaints, while only handling 150 compliments from residents all year.
In November, 25,000 people turned out for the annual fireworks display at Fairlands Valley Park, while about 30,000 people attended Stevenage Day at the King George V Playing Fields in June.
SBC bought 39 homes to add to its housing stock, while 68 homes were sold under the Right to Buy scheme.
Councillor Sharon Taylor, leader of SBC, said: 2013 was a busy year for the council, from holding 24 park events to carrying out 28,000 repairs.

Other vermin uncovered included ants, silverfish, wasps, weevils and squirrels
Rats, cockroaches and pigeons were among the pests to be found in hospitals in major NHS Trusts across the city during the last year.
Pest control were called out to incidents including a dead rodent in a consulting room, as well as rodents spotted in cafes at Birmingham Childrens Hospital, data from a Freedom of Information request revealed.
At Birminghams Queen Elizabeth Hospital, pest controllers disposed of a mouse in the Emergency Department, a cockroach on a ward, and pigeons in the oncology unit, with 62 call-outs by the Trust over the last 12 months.
At Good Hope Hospital a dead pigeon was removed from an X-Ray filing room, as well as a cockroach found in a ward kitchen at Heartlands Hospital, both run by the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.
Other vermin included ants, silverfish, wasps, weevils and squirrels.
Katherine Murphy, Chief Executive of the Patients Association, said that the information was a major safety concern.
She said: We wouldnt stand for this number of outbreaks in our restaurants, let alone our hospitals. This is a major patient safety concern, not to mention a serious compromise in dignity.
Some of the areas where pests have been found house vulnerable patients who could be at high risk of infection.
